I noticed lack of one general thread regarding Warhammer Fantasy, so I decided to create a one. :)
Not only Warhammer Fantasy Battle discussions welcomed, but also all things related to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (regardless of edition).
If anyone has questions regarding Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay's second edition, feel free to ask since I own most of its sourcebooks.
Warhammer 40,000 has its own thread here

But it's an official GW magazine! How is that not counted as canon?!
You'd be surprised. I've met many people like that.
In their minds, the only "true" canon is the one in the game itself. So any fluff in the rule and gamebooks for the game is the only true canon. Everything else is only semi-canon.
,Like 40k, "Everything is Canon, not everything is true." Having said that, White Dwarf is about as Canon-y as it gets, since it is almost exclusively written by the developers. If someone wants to take issue with a Black Library writer that is not a developer-like, say, F#$%ing C.S. Goto, then you can at least have a discussion. As is, anything in the Codices, White Dwarf, and Forge World should be taken as is without an officially stamped retcon, and novels written by the same developers should be a shoo-in without a particularly massive breach of canon.
In that same vein, there is plenty of crap in the Codices that is clearly incorrect and does not jive with the lore, and each Codex is written from the perspective of that faction-the bias is real and pervasive, and if someone wants to throw that hat in the ring remind them of all the clearly wrong stuff in the Necron and Chaos codexes in the third edition that had to be changed for being fluff incorrect in later editions. Sounds like a Strawman argument to me.

C.S. Goto is the reason why I feel we haven't had a Blood Ravens book in years. That man's Canon Defilement is worse than Ward's.
WHICH IS SAYING SOMETHING, as Ward created the infamous "Khornate Knights"
Got a pm from him saying it was due to a connection error on his end. The changes have been reverted now and I will re-add his bits when I have time.
EDIT: Well the History says it was reverted but it doesn't appear to be on the page itself.

You should probably tell him that, then.
I have done.
Double Post for new topic.
For Blood Bowl fans (not that there seem to be many here): For one week only, the classic Chaos, Chaos Dwarf & Dark Elf teams are available under the Made to Order limited editions. I've already ordered mine
New Undead: The Deathrattle Sepulchral Guard
They are for the new Gaiden Game Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire initially but they will be getting rules for the main game as well. The models are sweet as well.

Oooh, very interesting.
Shadespire, huh? What's that about?
From what I can gather it is Mordheim for Age of Sigmar
Eh. No. Mordheim for (maybe) Age of Sigmar will go out on 2018, according to hastings (around the retunr of the new take of battlefleet gothic and will be made by FW). Shadespire will be Games Workshop's take of X-Wing: extreme low count of models and highly competitive. It is thought out for tournaments, which is anathema to Mordheim's spirit.
Also. Vetock wrote the Kharadron's background.

In truth I'm a mass of hatred and caffeine masquerading as a human being.Ah right, I was only going by rumours I heard anyway (although I have no idea what the X-Wing game is like so I cannot comment on that part).

Speaking of Kharadron. I'm really liking those guys. They seem to be the apex of what's going on. Old WHFB lore in 8th edition felt extremely stale, almost soulless. Early Ao S lore felt very passionate and excited but not sure exactly what it wanted to be. The Kharadron seem to be the point where they exactly figure that conundrum. We know their governance, the league and delegates, we know of their political strifes: how Barak Nar is a city of progress and there technology and scolarship, not superstition, should be the ones to be held in the highest trust and regard. How Barak Thryng are staunch conservatives, holding tight to their original ways and following strictly the code and "log" of grudges, but at the same time not wanting to add new articles nor ammendments to the Code which in itself seems to be a combination of the pirate code, a constitution, and the sea laws of old.
When I read their lore I see a well fleshed out society, which is what we should get.

In truth I'm a mass of hatred and caffeine masquerading as a human being. As someone who likes to write my own backstory for my characters and armies, I will say that the more limited scope of WFB was the thing I liked the least about it, despite loving the setting in general. The shear size and diversity of the Mortal Realms is one of the best thing about AoS and I hope GW take a bit more advantage of it.
the big issue with WHF is that they lock themselves with their own lore, everything was defined and point out to end times which eventually will end with chaos winning because they have saying that since forever, that is taking acount all that places they could have explore like estalia, nippon, khuresh, etc leaving the world more empty and as stale.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Holy shit, I have newfound respect for the Empire after playing Total War: Warhammer for over a dozen hours. Seriously, it was able to exist pretty much continuously for over 2,000 years against attacks by hordes of greenskins, Chaos, Vampires, Beastmen, rebellion, and a whole mess of other stuff. I'm playing on Normal difficulty, too, and I'm pretty much screwed when it comes to that!

Wow, he's so badass he survived the end of the world and the start of the next XD
Grombrindal is like the terminator (he'll be back) only that he's actually competent.
In truth I'm a mass of hatred and caffeine masquerading as a human being. This week's pre-orders Age of Sigmar Skirmish
More info here
On Thursday, we bring you guests from around Games Workshop HQ. At 14:30 we’ll have Alex Tuxford from the studio writing team, who will be talking about the setting for the new Warhammer Age of Sigmar Skirmish game, which just so happens to be set in Shadespire!
Y'know what? I really hope that AOS doesn't get with the Stormcast Eternals what happened with the Space Marines and 40k.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.What, like upgraded Eternals?
I get the feeling the person who reverted your edits is one of those people who thinks White Dwarf isn't canon because it's not lore in the codices (or whatever it is AoS uses for rulebooks. Battletoms?)
