Greendog: The Beached Surfer Dude! is a platformer for the Sega Genesis developed by Sega Interactive and starring the eponymous Greendog, a mascot created by and based on professional surfer and entrepreneur, Rick Green.

After wiping out from an abnormally large wave in the Caribbean, Greendog wakes up on a beach with a mysterious pendant around his neck that he can't remove. He's informed that said pendant has an Aztec curse that not only causes all living things to attack him, but also prevents him from surfing!

This game contains examples of:

  • And the Adventure Continues: The game ends with the Aztec treasure combining into the Surfboard of the Ancients, giving Greendog back his surfing prowess. Off in the distance, his girlfriend Bambi says that the surfboard's full power hasn't been awakened yet, and there are more adventures ahead of Greendog.
  • Clingy MacGuffin: Greendog wakes up with a mysterious pendant around his neck that he can't remove.
  • Everything Trying to Kill You: It’s actually a plot point to the game; the cursed pendent Greendog wears causes all living things to go berserk and attack him.
  • Mayincatec: Each Caribbean island has an Aztec temple that Greendog must go into to collect a set of treasure pieces (even though in reality, the Aztecs resided in modern-day Mexico and not the Caribbean islands).
  • Plot Coupon: Collecting all seven pieces of Aztec treasure will allow Greendog to remove the pendant from his neck.
  • Tide Level: St. Vincent, the final island you explore, has raising and lowering water that can kill you instantly if your head is below the water.
  • Under the Sea: Played with. Curacao actually takes place in the fish tank of a modern aquarium, with windows to the guests in the background.
  • You Wake Up on a Beach: The main story begins with Greendog getting knocked off his board and waking up on a beach.
