Fallout 4

I can link to the page where I linked to other pages where I recommended some mods, while repeating the disclaimer that I am Done with the game and can't say how those mods are working these days.

And, another Fallout 4 update. Unfortunately, I updated without realizing Script Extender needed to update, so I resorted to just playing F4. Now it's updated again so I can't use F 4 SE or F4 without sitting around for an hourlong update.

I think Wolf Among Us has craving my attention for awhile now. Seriously. I'm getting sick of Steam's mandatory updates. Fallout 4's been out for a year and none of these patches have prevented my FPS from dropping. I don't care about the ethics of paid, boring mods - but this updating sh't's getting really old.

EDIT: Annnnnd... uninstalled. Good-f'cking-bye Bethesda. You will never see money from me again. (Unless you make Prey 2 but ha ha hah jokes are fun)

EDIT 2: Holy crap. So much free space on my drive now. What to do, what to do.

EDIT 3: Maybe I'll give New Vegas a spin now that I can hopefully run it without massive FPS drop.

Turn down the ambient occlusion (which was horrifically badly implemented in this one) and turn down godrays. Reduce draw distance for items and grass and shadows, since the commonwealth has very few open plains where high draw distance both benefits you and doesn't overtax your processor.

Is there a mod on PS 4 that re-enables Trophies? I haven't been willing to use any because I haven't gotten all of them yet.

On the other side of the fence, is there one that gets you the level 4 merchants? I really can't be bothered to try and find all of them throughout the Commonwealth.

And, back like a shameless wench. New Vegas wasn't doing it for me and I had to install so many mods on there just to make the experience fun - then I was watching a tutorial video where the graphics looked three times better than the cabbage soup I was playing and I decided to go back to 4.

So now I have... 90... 97? Ninety-seven plug-ins:

And the game still isn't fun. I'm barely through Concord and still making changes. I wanted the Loot Overhaul mod, but it conflicts with my desire to have more interesting and varied weapons in the hands of raiders. I saw mods that took away their pipe guns and made them use melee weapons, but I don't quite want that. I saw one that increased the # of spawns, but the NPC's started spawning and doing nothing while I mowed them down.

Ugh.

The only option I see is "merging" the weapons patches like Crossbows and Doom Weapons so that they show up with Loot Overhaul, but that takes more time than I'm willing to commit to this. So I took Loot Overhaul off, but now I keep seeing that 50-round box of bullets in Vault 111 and it destroys my immersion. Why would someone leave a box of 50 bullets sitting on a desk and two or three handguns there? It doesn't compute! Unacceptable!

I took armor mods like Red Hood and Captain America's suits to spice things up a little, and I really wanted the MGS and John Wick suits. But farming for ingredients in the beginning is so gradual that I just can't seem to get those outfits at the speed I want them.

I'm starting to think I might be unpleasable. :/

I've kind of given up on all the Fallout games at the moment, to the extent I've nuked all, or nearly all, my Fallout mods. I got rid of the Fallout 4 ones first, and purged the 3 and New Vegas ones last week.

I may get back into them at some point, but at the moment I've got a backlog of games I haven't even touched yet and I want to clear.

That might well be the sanest option available.

Why do all commercially available Vault-Tec jumpsuits look horrible compared to their in-game portrayal?

Wrong material and how they don't seem to be fitted.

If I wanted to try and do an accurate Vault Suit without building from scratch, I'd try to dye something like a diving suit or something and go from there.

Not to mention, the in game suits are made of really expensive materials. In Fallout 4, it's revealed in the art book that there is actual gold fiber weave in the yellow stripe down the front. It actually serves some practical purpose in maintaining the comfortability of the suit. I can't remember exactly what that is off the top of my head, but I bought the artbook and I read it, even.

Creation Club happened. Even if you don't buy any of the paid mods it still installs all the mods currently in the creation club to your hard drive.

...that is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. If for no other reason than because it's begging for some hacker to come along and gain access without paying.

Never have I been more glad to have disabled Fallout auto-updates the other week.

96 Gigabytes? For one game, with no user-installed mods?

Yeah fuck that noise. There is no way to get rid of the damned things either as they are integrated now. The one mod only removes the annoying advertisement for it.

We need a Jimquisition video on this bullshit - they are ruining what for all my dislike of it is a game that a lot of people who aren't me actually liked, and already made Bethesda a metric fuckton of money from the various ways they sold it in the past.

(I think I previously said that I got the game on sale, and only pulled the trigger on buying the Season Pass to avoid having to buy it after the price rise.)

I unloaded it from my console to avoid it soaking up the extra hard drive space. I actually had a good bit of fun playing that game.

DLC that causes customers to uninstall the software can't be doing what they want it to do. Unless the deep pockets microtransactions crowd will literally just by everything you put down in front of them and that's enough for Bethesda now, somehow.

Last I checked you couldn't "disable" auto-updates, you could only delay them to certain hours of the day when your Steam account isn't online so that the game won't download the update during that time.

But anyway, yeah, to Don't Starve. I'm enjoying the 50-60 gbs of space I have now.
