Needs Help: Creepy Changing Painting

Following the Halloween avatar trick, Eddie said he'd be willing to implement the offscreen image change thing for Creepy Changing Painting. Looks like that discussion stalled, so here we go.

I'd suggest two images, preferably related; specifically, I think the Mona Lisa and upside down!Mona Lisa would work well, though I'm not in a place where I can upload and rotate things. Thoughts?

I think using an example of an actual creepy changing painting would be better, though - I suggest Fourteen Oh Eight, In The Mouth Of Madness, Eternal Darkness, or Amnesia The Dark Descent. (Not sure about the others, but I know I've seen image-only versions of the portraits in the last example and I can probably find them again.)

Here are the two I came up with of the Mona Lisa:

And we have the script ready to plug in, once we settle on the images. It will work the same way as the avatars did on Halloween — the image will change once it's scrolled off the screen.

Keep in mind that the creepiness is that the painting is changing at all. It doesn't have to be changing to something that's creepy itself.

Ooh, I like the subtlety of the eyes blanking over in rodney's.

I prefer Rodney's rendition, if we're going to use the Mona Lisa. :/

Put them all on the same line, separated by double bars || with another pair on each end. If it gets too wide, doing the same thing on the next line will add another row.

Can we have one with a random UFO in the background? :D

It will always start with Normal!Mona. Then turn into one of the others randomly when it scrolls off the screen.

And I don't know why her smile seems to change when her eyes change, but I noticed that too, when I was working with the close-ups.

It's because a true smile comes from the eyes. Or technically, the muscles in the entire face, and the ones around the eyes are the most expressive in human perception.

But all I changed was the positioning of her actual pupils. I didn't change the shading around the eyes at all. 'Tis odd.

I think that our eyes don't see the pupil separately from the rest of the face, they see it as a single thing...

Maybe the different direction she's looking in makes us expect the related muscles to have moved accordingly, so we see the expression as different. It's probably all part of her being the famous mysery lady with the strange smile, which is why I'd like her as the page image in the first place.
