I'm surprised we don't have a page for this, or even a topic.

I like this game, even if it does have flaws. I REALLY like the learn stuff yourself part, like 'monster meat is fatal', and 'You can't see s*** in the dark, so add fuel beforehand'.

That was the reason I bought it, and gave the free one to my brother.

Is it Chrome app only or such? I'm interested a bit in it too (saw TB's WTF)

Really though, in terms of survival game...people really should play Unreal World...and NEO Scavenger...

I have never survived long. I'm tempted to make a new world, though, for a better chance forth efforts island to actually have stuff.

The gameplay is pretty unforgiving. You can see yourself dying from a good amount of reasons, like: do not be in the dark for too long, or do not attack what you can't kill or be prepared when you hear heavy breathing.

But in the end it's pretty nice. Even those "useless" items have their value. And if they really are useless for you, make research. That actually carries over.

I've managed to survive 50 days on my first map, and I'm still going. Mostly because I watched a good L Per play before I bought the game, and that I started right by a beefalo herd.

Definitely mulling over getting it (particularly convinced by the Yogscast LP).

Oh god, Simon's reaction to the Tall Bird was priceless.

Definitely considering getting this for Christmas when it inevitably goes on sale on Steam for the holiday sale.

I have never encountered pigs, or a Tallbird. I found my first swamp in this new world, though... and my first graveyard, and quarry... still no beefalo or pigs, though. The crockpot and local monsters provide enough food, though.

Ok, bumping thread. I have encountered Tallbirds, but did not live long enough to hatch a Smallbird. I found a small Pig colony, and was having fun experimenting with that, but one of the new Spider Warriors killed me.

So what is this game about? A friend was talking about today.

Sounds interesting. How is the game play?

I think its fun, though the 'no tutorial AT ALL' can bite you in the ass, control-wise. Mouse or WASD to move, mouse to interact (whether to attack, examine, or interact). The gameplay superficially feels like resource-gathering in Minecraft, except constantly on Hardcore mode. There is constant and real danger of dieing in this game.

Sounds kinda fun actually. Almost like Dwarf Fortress Adventure mode.

Any tips on gathering silk? Every time I try to attack, the spider colony zerg rushes me. Even with a spear and logsuit, I get eaten. Should I try kiting them toward beefalo or pigmen and let them fight each other?

Focus on one at a time. Hit, then run. Works for all the enemies.

Bought it. I'm definitely liking it. I have a pretty comfortable lifestyle right now: I have a healthy and sustainable diet of bird, and I think I might branch out into beekeeping soon. However, I realize that I might be running low on resources soon enough, and might have to eventually move to another island once my food supplies vanish.

How do you get critters in the first place?
