I love unique art styles, so I have no qualms with this. Not that YI wasn't unique, but I felt like the YS and EY style, of rendering the world as different materials besides ones typically used for drawing, was a lot more standout. The most recent Paper Mario actually kind of does it too, with everything being "dedicatedly" made of paper or cardboard, and it gives the game a unique visual punch.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI can't say I care for them going with a new art style for this since I loved Yoshi's Island's unique style, but at least the series is getting attention.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! In at least one of the screens they showed in the presentation, you can see a window in the background, like the level is taking place in someone's house. I like.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectAt the very least if the game is good enough to bring the Yoshi series back into the public consciousness there's a better shot at a more Island-esque game getting made. Of course I don't want to judge this game before it's even a thing, but Epic Yarn is sorta disappointing to me and I'd rather not see Yoshi go in the same direction and then become stagnant again.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! What's wrong with the different babies mechanic? The problem I had with it was that Baby Wario and Baby Bowser felt like last-minute additions and were only available for a piddly amount of levels.
Only because they used the same basic riff for most of the soundtrack.
It took me ages, but I did that. Sadly, as always, the 100% completion offers no real reward...
Now that would be a good 100% completion award.
Cell-Shading?
Also, why would it have to be 3D? It could be Hand-Drawn Graphics, which look AMAZINGING (Rayman Origins, Braid).
Likewise, I am mixed.
On one hand, it's a Yoshi game, and it's on the Wii U, and it looks cool. On the other hand, in 2D mode it's a lot similiar to Epic Yarn, and I was looking foward to a Yoshi's Island game, made by Retro Studios.

Anyway, I really like the look of the new game. Sure, it may not be Yoshis Island, but there's no need to keep reusing an old formula when they could try new things. Granted, it's not exactly new anymore, but I am interested in how they could tailor the gimmick to a playstyle that fits Yoshi rather than Kirby.
Plus OMG YOSHI LOOKS SO ADORABLE LIKE THIS I WANT A PLUSH LIKE THAT TO CUDDLE.

Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!I can't remember, did they ever make one for Yarn!Kirby? If not, that is a wasted opportunity that I hope they rectify here

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. The instant I saw this game, I mailed it to my sister. She said we should play it sometime (when I get it).
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!1: Their abilities are not well thought-out and mess with the pacing of the game. Baby Mario has the ability to... spawn invisible block only he can hit (lol, what?) and is now the only way you can run, forcing everyone else to move as slow as mollases (and most of the time, you'll be forced to use everyone except Baby Mario). Baby Peach is slow, has the worst eggs, no other special qualities... ect, and her umbrella isn't even used as a (lazy) way to add alternate paths apart from the last level- most of the time, using her is the only way to progress. The game is making you play as a worthless character for the sake of playing as a worthless character.
2: Seeking stork stops when you have the brong baby is never that long individually, but it adds up. There's no reason changing babies couldn't have been mapped to the select button or a corner of the touch screen.
I didn't really care for the mutliple babies mechanic at all. I would have preferred if it were just Baby Mario.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! No idea if it's old or what but let's all take a moment to appreciate this anyway.

Dear Lord that must've taken forever.

Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!I personally would have preferred a cel-shaded Yoshi game. That would be the best way to bring back the original game's art style.
Also, about recycling an art style for a different franchise. Has that ever been done before?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Same developers and company at least, so I'd assume it's not unheard of.

I kinda hoped to see the Yoshi's Island artstyle again, but I suppose that would be sort of difficult to recreate as models instead of sprites.
