On TV Tropes, it's very common for editors to misuse appearance tropes, as well as tropes whose names make them sound like they could be appearance tropes.
Meaningful Appearance tropes are often misused in ways that overlook the "Meaningful" aspect, resulting in Zero Context Examples and misuse in the form of examples that have no meaning even if the tropes themselves are not People Sit on Chairs.
The Appearance Tropes Cleanup sandbox covers tropes with potential issues. Tropes that simply require cleanup will go through this thread, while tropes that require more significant action will have to go through the Trope Repair Shop.
April 2, 2023 update: This thread is no longer for making changes to tropes, and was brought back from the Projects Morgue solely for cleanup. Making changes to tropes is still a job for the Trope Repair Shop.

Is there support for a rename? Something other than 'thigh high boots' will help suppress Zero Context Examples.
2. Aggressive Thigh High Boots
3. These Boots Were Made For Walking. (Joking! Mostly...)
I'm querying Eddie on a possible expansion of his edit.
As for a rename, I'm drawing a blank on anything that's both clear and concise.

These Boots Were Made For Whipping? :P
(I was going to say 'kicking' but that sounds more like a trope for shoes with concealed weapons.)
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableNo. Fast Eddie said he didn't want another trope about dominatrixes.
I like Tough Leather Boots. Like I said before, I don't know why they should have to be thigh high.
Tough Leather Boots sounds like a completely different trope.
Honestly, I'm coming around to the idea of cutting this. The new definition seems too vague, and I'm inclined to agree with Eddie that we don't need a page for every type of fanservice outfit out there.
Eddie wouldn't have re-written the definition if he had had any intention of cutting it. I don't think this will be up for voting.
Well, I don't think the new definition is really workable. And even if trying to define it as a fanservice trope wasn't definitely out of the question, I don't really think it's a good idea anyway. So what does that leave?
I do not see much vagueness here.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMy previous suggestion of creating a new trope that is about the general concept of a costume that is deliberately designed for sexual fanservice as its primary trait still stands.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Whether or not it stands or not is irrelevant to this trope. The crowner failed to gather enough support for a cut and, as mentioned earlier, Fast Eddie wouldn't have rewritten this trope if he didn't believe it was tropworthy.
Bumb. As for new names suggestions we have
1. Tough Thigh High Boots
2. Aggressive Thigh High Boots
3. Tough Leather Boots
The 'whipping' one doesn't count because this trope is not about domantrixes.
Are there any more suggestions?
I think I like 3 best, but only for being less wordy.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableBecause there were no other name suggestions, I created the Alt Names crowner. I'm going to ask a mod to hook it.
Bumb for more votes
Two options are tied for first so another bumb is needed.
This vote is going nowhere. How about we call the crowner for 'no name change' and move on to the next trope?
If we do, I suggest we put it under a "Unresolved for now, shelved for later review" section in the second post's lists.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Butbutbut 2:1 ratio! :P
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableIf Aggressive Thigh Boots can maintain it with more votes you may get your wish!
Update. This crowner has been going for three weeks and no consensus. I say we call this crowner for 'no change', shelve any issues with this trope name for later and move on to the next trope.
I am in full agreement, as my previous post already illustrates.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. The crowner's shut down for lack of consensus. Let's move on.
Ever notice that all of the capital letters in this thread's title are symbols for nucleotides?
