Seems like you need more support here, Gunheart.
You already know my opinions. This was my first look at a webcomic, and I was rather surprised how good it was.
Hm, not bad. I like it.
GH introduced me to this comic, and it is facewall-inducing waiting for updates. Get back on the stick, Scotty!
Admittedly, I absolutely love everything from the start up to Zenith's defeat, and not just because she's my favorite character.
Rather, it's because I find pretty much everything to do with the androids to be simultaneously sad and horrifying...and still played entirely for laughs. Android Nin Wah's been left as a head on a counter after getting laughed at for remembering her backstory wrong (implied to be the fault of the nanomachines), the Alpha Droids have apparently been wiped of their memories of being princesses and are just left behind as scrap, and Zenith, who'd just turned good and gave Nin Wah an awesome new outfit, just broke down with her brainless corpse paraded around to handle menial tasks.
Still a great and underrated comic, I just hope all of this is resolved before it all ends.
What Measure Is a Mook? can be a very frustrating trope.
Some medias seem to have a problem establishing when characters are just used to the hardship being soldiers and seeing nameless faces die, rather than the cast just seeming randomly inclined to be completely apathetic to a certain character because they aren't as "important".

To be honest, it's Fortiscue that I think I have the biggest issue with in that regard. I can sorta see the other characters being pressed for time and thus still having a Just a Machine mindset. But we see Fortiscue admonishing Nin Wah for nearly breaking her clone, so it seems kinda odd that he doesn't even whip out an explanation for why they'd shut down.
That said, I would still say that Ace's characterization is one of my favorite touches. I mean, you see his conversation at the start with CK, and you just know he's a smarmy, patronizing fake who's going to drop his whole Nice Guy facade as soon as the comm's off. But no, he's actually more The Pollyanna, his apparent obliviousness to the bad in anything bordering on Cloud Cuckoolander levels. And then someone grabs Freeda and he does something to her captor off camera, proving that there's a reason for his reputation...
Sadly Forty's character seems to have deteriorated mostly into Mr. Exposition compared to the passionate little nut he started off as.
Very much an Always Someone Better formula, similar to Mickey and Donald or Spongebob and Squidward. The resentment is only fueled further by the fact they're genuinely that sweet and earnest, especially to their bitter rival.
I love the one where CK thinks about aping Ace's look by taking a plug out of his ear. And later, when he loses a tooth after being thrown against a wall, he happily declares "I feel like a spacer!"
In some ways, I think that's part of what makes CK a compelling protagonist even before his character development; his ego occasionally gives way to his insecurities like that. He knows he's not as awesome as he wants everyone else to think, hence why, even though he appoints Nin Wah as his Yeoman, his real intention was for her to teach him how to be a Spacer.
For what it's worth: the artist, Scott Arsenault, fielded Commander kitty and crew years ago in a much different story arc that he ultimately abandoned and erased from the internet. If I recall rightly, Nin Wah was an outlaw sought by the III, CK was obsessing over a missing cup of strawberry yogurt, and Mittens had to deal with a Satan-like creature who turned out to be a telemarketer. The current Fortescue and Zenith arc could be considered a complete reboot of the CK universe.
Yeah, I actually tried to read the original back when it was up, but never really could get into it.
...Wait, this has happened before?
The original story was really hard to follow. The new story could also use some additional panels now and then, but the fast pacing makes sense regarding the slow update schedule.
Sandra and Woo: a webcomic about food, love and other important stuffWow, never thought I'd feel sorry for MOUSE of all characters. Seems like Safe Mode really is hazardous to machines...
Well, that's disquieting at least.
Of course, it is kind of odd that she'd teleport Ace, Freeda and the princesses onto the Velvet Knight, rather than, say, into space...
Yeah. Context suggests Zenith's back and she's gone SHODAN on us, but MOUSE was saying "Safe Mode" over and over...
Seems like as good a time to bump this as any; CK actually got as far as the fourth round of that tournament before finally getting bumped out of the competition.
Also, it looks like Nin Wah's ready to get her REVENGEANCE on!
...After she can get over her issues with carrying around her own severed head, anyway.
It's good to see she at least kept her alive.
Awesome. There was no chance of her getting stranded in the first place!
Still kinda sad about the Alpha Droids, though. The explanation here implies they were probably in the same situation as Nin Wah, and I'm guessing those fancy iKnows apparently grafted to their ears is why they act like stereotypical robots.
Oh, Nin Wah. You made the most elementary mistake of all.
Don't turn your back on the (headless) body.

Yikes, the Velvet Knight's in more pieces then I would've guessed.
Also, I do have to admit I kinda like how Blue Nin Wah finally gave the real one a minor What the Hell, Hero?, given how passive she's been up until now.
Read it here!
So, back in September, I discovered this sadly overlooked webcomic gem. It's a weekly serial about a group of Funny Animal space freelancers fighting for fame and to stop a crazy hybrid girl from conquering the galaxy.
Our page for it, unfortunately, is largely outdated, and seriously Needs Wiki Magic Love.
