It's just text.
Check out my fanfiction! We've had that up so long I think we need to try to get permission to use it.
I almost suggested that webcomic but I agree that it's not a good enough ratio of text to visuals. I'm really not all that crazy about the old pic...if we get permission, it's cool, but it's not gonna hurt my feelings if it stays gone.
The old image also includes a pencil and a paintbrush. Not exactly new media.
Check out my fanfiction!I kinda like it that way, it kinda demonstrates how old this trope is.
A time when pencils and paintbrushes were new far predates the trope I think. Even if that's not true, they are shown alongside a computer, which does not illustrate this.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. One fellow on the trope's discussion page suggested this comic.
Good example, but I worry that it would be a bit text-dependent (since we'd have to use the last panel only).
Also, there are people who actually think Minecraft is evil? Oy vey...
I don't care for it, it feels like it's another trope besides this one.
It needs both panels to make sense: "old media" building blocks good, "new media" building blocks bad.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. If it's a devart image, we can get permission to use the whole thing, right? Or is that not the artist's original creation?
We can certainly ask for permission. The only problem I have with that is, how many people are going to make the block-building association if they're not familiar with Minecraft?
Maybe a caption could fix that...
EDIT: I e-mailed him outside of dA...hopefully he responds soon.

Can it be remade as a PNG and still fit under the size limit? The artifacting isn't too bad, though, so I'm good with it.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I like that one.
No, the PNG that I got when I saved it is 260 KB.
^ What about just making it (res) smaller, then? The text is big, that doesn't make it illegible or anything.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.
That looks good.
What code did you used for the left-justified orange-border caption, Willbyr?
It's the standard caption formatting, just without the right justification and with the [- -] tags to shrink the font down...not sure why it showed up orange.

I like the devArt image.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe general consensus is for the Minecraft pic, so it's up, potholed, and tagged. Locking up.
I pulled the image a few days ago for being a copyright violation as noted in the Image Source thread. So, rather than leave it image less.... how about the first panel of this Head Trip strip from the examples list? I think we only need the first panel.
For reference, here is the image that was on the page:
