To be honest, that seems more appropriate for Memorial Day.
Veterans' Day and Memorial Day kind of blur together into the same "honor those who serve" day, but you're technically right that Memorial Day is more for military members who died in battle, and Veterans' Day is more for those still with us.
But personal relationships trump that. If you've got a relative buried at Normandy, both days are for honoring his memory.

It is Remembrance Day.

I thought Emolgia coast me a friend, also it was already my most disliked Pokemon.
If I may, this seems to be a thread for when you've got a "special avatar to mark a special day, such as a national holiday or sporting event". I think all other talk about more general-use avatars should go in the general-purpose Avatars-thread.

Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.I suppose it's time to post any avatars you're wearing to mark the most annoying time of the year.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.
Aw, why is it annoying? Wait, am I going to cause a rant that is nonetheless far too well structured and backed up with facts to be a rant, possibly covering marketing devices, religious holidays being recognised and/or the secularisation of them, and the idea that an arbitrary time of year is special?
Oh, and remember that Scrooge did come around to Christmas in the end. :P Why didn't you give Vimes a Santa hat?
Anyway, mine is fairly standard Christmas lights, made by Lib and beautifully colorful. Tuefel's use of lights was very nice.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I hate Christmas. I loathe religious holidays in general, but Christmas is a special time when I have to be with my family, see loads of loud and annoying kids (mostly my younger brothers,) hear annoying Christmas-themed songs everywhere, and so on. I've never liked Christmas, and every sign of it annoys me. Thus the avatar.
I didn't go for a more traditional Scrooge because, as is typical of me, I didn't want to waste an opportunity to be annoyingly Finnish. Donald Duck is insanely popular in Finland; it's easily the most popular comic in the country, and it has way more subscribers than all but the most popular newspapers in the country. I think it's the most popular magazine in Finland but I'm not entirely sure.
Scrooge McDuck is the most popular Donald Duck character in Finland, mostly because he's the main character in most of the stories written and illutsrated by Carl Barks and Don Rosa, both of whom have huge fandoms in Finland. Don Rosa says that out of all the countries he's visited Finland is the most enthusiastic about Disney comics, which is why he made a story called "The Quest of Kalevala." I was originally going to take a picture of Scrooge from that comic but then I remembered that the original Scrooge story is actually about Christmas, so I went with that instead.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur. It's Christmas! Almost anyway. Fairly standard shopped-in santa hat fare, but I think it combines well with the sunglasses.
Now you all know why I call him Scrooge the Grumpypants.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerIt's been about 50 years, so I thought I'd remember JFK, at least with this small gesture.
No one's perfect, and neither was he, but I always thought he was one of the best leaders involved in the Cold War, and he did many things that were and are worth celebrating.

Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.
Rather self-explanatory, I would think...
