My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic SPOILER TALK THREAD

Okay, I'll give it that the comedy has been great, even in the episodes I wasn't so hot on. This is a hilarious season.

I dunno, maybe I'm just kind of bored with the Mane 6 or something? I've been in love with the Starlight episodes so much this season, either for focusing on her or other characters that haven't had as much screen time.

Yeah. One thing that was big in seasons 4 and 5 was a focus on more bit characters, either in season 4 where an emphasis was on the mane 6 being mentors for new folks, or in season 5 when we had secondary characters getting big introspective things like "Crusaders of the Lost Mark," "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep," and "Brotherhooves Social." This season kind of feels a bit more like a season 1 deal of characters learning friendship lessons. Which is an interesting approach, but... yeah, I have found the Starlight Glimmer episodes the best ones this season.

A Royal Problem has been my favorite episode of the season so far and one of my favorite of the show.

Out of the episodes that have currently aired, I'd say my favorites are that one, the one with Maud, and of course the episode with Starlight and Trixie.

Just saw the new episode that aired early in Australia, Discordant Harmony. I have to say, this is a genuinely good episode, and downright adorable. Discord here isn't quite that much of a dick (hell, he's downright nice and pitiable), which is something I've kind of wanted to see toned down lately. It's a simple plot, Discord invites Fluttershy over and he's worried that she won't like his pad to he makes it "normal" and it almost removes him from existence. Fluttershy is really different here, it kind of shows how far she's come that she's actually anticipating and enjoying Discord's weirdness. Some of the earlier episodes this season have been a bit better but this one is still quite good.

Can't say I'm the least bit surprised by that.

Discordant Harmony is pretty bad imho (although Fluttershy was at her absolute best just fantastic and I guess Discord has to be mildly irritating or he'll die so quite understandable). The Perfect Pear is almost perfect. Gotta admit, I wasn't sold on the old forbidden love/liked each other since they were literally toddlers angle at first, but then the song happened and my heart of stone just completely crumbled and it retconned everything I didn't like into being good. Also I like Grand Pear and hope to see more of him. In summary: (T__T)

I liked Discordant Harmony more. I wish they stuck more with "Fluttershy is uncomfortable with Discord not being chaotic in his own house" more over "Discord will die if he isn't being a looney tune" but ah well.

So Twi's parents are the only ones who still haven't been fleshed out yet. All we know about them is what they look like and their names.

edit: I guess we don't know much more about Rarity's parents either, other than that they're zany and slightly negligent.

I seriously did not see that coming. Well, I didn't have much fanon for it anyway. Seriously though, this episode was one of, if not THE best episodes ever. It's at least in my top 3.

I'm impressed that they got William Shatner and didn't cast him as a blatant parody of himself. (A subtle parody, perhaps...)

Damn, this show got realer than I expected it to.

• Speaking of which, won't all the outfits cost a lot of money? I know Rarity usually pulls them out of hyperspace, but still
• Oh, they're actually addressing this
• If this were real life, I'd say it is incredibly risky and foolish. But they're the main characters, so they're guaranteed to win
• So they're obviously going to win by ignoring Rarity's overbearingness and just doing what they love naturally
• Oh wow, I can't believe the mean 5 are actually being portrayed sympathetically.
• And then they joined together and split the prize money, and everyone was still mad since they could only rent half a yacht
• The mane 6 also contributed their skills at getting things done implausibly fast by filming an elaborately cheroegraphed music video with custom sets and a new song, all in just one day. (I like how they lampshaded that at least)

Fuck, that was a good episode of MLP...didn't even recognize Shatner at first. Second best episode of the entire season.

I really did like that episode. I can't judge if that's my favorite of this season, though, because it's the first episode of this season that I watched. Whoops. (I'm going back to rewatch the season in order, but I watched "The Perfect Pear" first because I really wanted to know about Applejack's parents.)

Jeez at this rate I'm going to have to watch the episode. This seems like the most widely-accalimed episode I've seen since I started watching.

I just don't get it. A lot of people are saying this is the greatest episode in the whole show and I'm not seeing it.

It's just "Good" as opposed to "Great", which is better than "Fine" or "Boring".

So, I've been listening to the song from the episode for pretty much the past day, over and over again. I really like that song.

Anyways, this trailer looks good, if jarring because of the animation (gonna take a bit to get used to it). I might end up loving this.
