My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic SPOILER TALK THREAD

The fandom needs to make a trailer to that effect when the finale finishes.

Okay, so...

First I like the back and forth between Discord and Trixie, they had some fun chemistry. Despite Discord being all "FluttershyFluttershyFluttershy" this episode, I like how he's been getting time with other characters this season. I hope they build on that.

All four of them worked together rather nicely, actually. A lot of good character interactions these episodes.

Not sure how I feel about the good changelings and their new designs, but I'm relieved at least Chrys told Glim to fuck off and swore her vengeance. Her and what army, I don't know. Maybe my theory about the schism in the changeling hive was right, or she drags some other villain up to help.

On a less spoiler-y note, Mike Vogel helped write this one and I hope he stays on for next season. He's been consistently one of my favorite writers.

It is very interesting how Chrysalis is still at large. I think she might be the first true reoccurring villain of the series. I wonder how Season 7 is going to deal with her. Do you think she might be the cause of what eventually makes Celestia into... Nightmare Star?

Neat finale, can't wait to finish the season officially.

@Gwen; Without having seen it, Mike Vogel having a part in this makes me happy. It was kind of strange that a former Hasbro suit would attempt to write for one of their shows, but he's proven himself by writing some of the finest stories of the season.

Got around to watching the first half of the finale, mainly because otherwise I won't be able to avoid spoilers. I'm really enjoying it so far.

It's great that Chrysalis is back, and I really like how Starlight and Trixie's relationship has developed. The fact that Trixie is basically Twilight's Sitcom Archnemesis is pretty great too. My only gripes are that it's bit much that all of the Princesses were kidnapped so easily and that Discord got brought in super-quickly, but those are honestly pretty minor issues.

I'll watch the second half after lunch.

Compared to Seasons 4 and 5's finales, how good?

Nowhere near as dramatic as season 5's finale, but good characterization for our ragtag heroes, especially Trixie. If you didn't like how Starlight was easily forgiven then, this will probably have a more satisfactory conclusion.

I recall once that people complained that an EG Discord without his powers would be a worthless character no one would want to see. I think this episode proved that totally wrong.

Thorax fans will be very happy.

Didn't watch season 4, so I can't compare them. Sorry.

Eh, good enough a summation, I guess. I'm looking forward to when it airs in the US.

It was very much a "Journey over the Destination" story, with the characters actions and interactions being the better parts of the finale than the climax itself. Not that the climax wasn't good, the rest just left a bigger impression on me.

Oh goody; now the changelings look like they just returned from a gay pride parade.

Alright, finished the other half of the finale and really enjoyed it.

Trixie, Starlight, Discord, and Thorax really had some good chemistry, and Starlight finally got the kind of solid character development she needed. The ending with every changeling suddenly becoming good was a bit much (I think it would've been more effective if they had split; with some following Thorax and some sticking with Chrysalis), but on the whole I thought it worked really well.

Yeah, I'm kind of hoping this is more of a split in the changelings rather than a whole reversal. Like, they've taken the main hive, but there's more dotted all over Equestria. It'd be a good way to work in Guardians of Harmony, so maybe people will stop asking that to be a spin off, despite it not really have much potential beyond maybe a stand alone special.

@ed: Yeah, Vogel seems like a cool guy. I think he's been with the series in some capacity since season 3, if not longer. Also, don't know many execs that go to Burning Man.

On the bright side, it looks like the show finally has a recurring villain.

That was a pretty cool finale. I loved the interactions between the group, especially between Trixie and Discord. But I do agree it was a bit much to have all the changelings suddenly agree to share their love like Thorax. I'd have figured some would be suspicious or think the old way of sucking all the love out of ponies was better. But it was a good finale regardless. I appreciated how Starlight was able to use her past as a way to try and reach out to Chrysalis, and I'm equally glad it didn't work. (That would have felt really cheap.) I wonder what Chrysalis's plan will be in Season 7.

My current hope is that Chrysalis tries to get revenge by springing Tirek from Tartarus.

What if something happens that requires every species/country to team up to dave the whole world?

@JT: I can dig that. That almost makes me want to see Chrysalis take the "give love don't take love" approach, but remains evil, and pulls an Unholy Matrimony with Tirek.

That would be pretty amusing, though I don't know if I could see them actually doing it.

My first thought on seeing the reformed changelings is that they're basically the Seelie Court now.

I'm watching the finale, not like I have cable anyway.

Applejack, you're supposed to be the element of Honesty here, Rainbow Dash is right. She was terrible just a few weeks ago! Startrix still canon, OTP. Equal four! Yeesssss! They walked all the way back. To Ponyville. Although I suppose Starlight is ace at teleporting so maybe not all the way. And everything is super weird. Nopony seems to remember her, but. Also in other ways. Also AJ and Rarity are definitely dating. Also canon, also OTP. Ohhhh they're changelings aren't they. Thorax will return! Thorax got sparklier (crystallier?) Aaand Discord is there too.

Well no magic should make things interesting. Could you like. Stop shouting. Where even is everybody? Thanks a lot, Discord. Is that how smoke bombs work now? Can changelings teleport? Hi Chrysalis. If they literally just talk this out and explain to the changelings that if friendship then no need to feed, that would be AWESOME. OK I got to admit, this whole pupation revalation is equal parts dorky and cool.
