Also, let me know either with a new post here or a PM once you've got your character edit done KSPAM.

@Nman: Looks fine, so he's good to go.

I'm not sure when we'll start, but definitely not until tomorrow at least. I may wait as long as until the weekend.

I'm going to use the same name as last time but it's not the same character.

  • Name: 2nd Lieutenant Jerry McKnight
  • Gender and Age: 26, male
  • Appearance: Standard Military UCP in Woodland, Desert, and Urban. Wears his combat helmet and a black Kevlar vest with ammo pouches. Also wears a black trench coat at night or with the Urban. A silver cross around his neck.
  • Personality: Swears moderately, average in temperament, quick to anger, takes orders from people who earn his respect or are of higher military rank.
  • Backstory: He served in Iraq for 3 years after he turned 19, earning his current rank, he left the Army life after his father was killed by a walker. He returned home and has spent the last 4 years trying to protect his 14 year old brother, Tony, who recently has gone missing for unknown reasons. Now Jerry is desperately trying to find Tony. He joined the group to hopefully aid in the recovery of his brother.
  • Equipment: A Colt M4A1 (with a shoulder strap) and 5 magazines for it. Standard ammo. Nothing fancy. 2 Berreta M92FS he keeps in leg holsters. 2 Mags for each. Standard ammo. A antique katana (Which he keeps on his back) from his cousin from Japan. A combat knife/bayonet for the M4. 2 Olive Green 1-quart Canteens which hang on his belt. 5 MRE packs, a knife, fork and spoon and a first aid kit which he carries in a satchel. A Bible. A cellphone.
  • Skills: Ex-Army sniper with no rifle. (Making him a really good shot, but not Chris Kyle good.) Basic first aid, can field dress and cook animals. Learned karate and made it to 2nd Degree black belt when he was 16.

@TLGW: I'll allow five mags for the M4 if that includes the one in the gun. (So one loaded, four extra.) For the Berettas the two each can be straight up extra.

Also, he plans to take along a katana he doesn't really know how to use?

Maybe I should mention having writer's block more often. Seems like most of the time I do that, it suddenly goes away and I get ideas.

So yeah, here's the RP.

That's the good news anyway. Bad news is I may end up busy for most of the rest of tonight.

Oh, and signups are remaining open, at least for now anyway. Just in case anyone was wondering.

The classic punching glove arrow most certainly wouldn't work. When you attach something that big and heavy to the front of an arrow, you cut down the speed and range of the arrow significantly, and to a lesser extent the accuracy as well. It would literally be a joke to most monsters, and not in a good way.

Another classic, the net arrow, also doesn't work in real life, due to the fact that you'd need a tube big enough to fit your entire arm into if you wanted to catch human-sized targets.

That said, trick arrows wouldn't be completely impossible. Well, unless you were hoping for non-lethal trick arrows; those are basically impossible to pull off against what you'll be fighting. Arrows with silver heads for monsters with silver weakness, (mainly just werewolves) arrows without a head at all but just a sharpened end would work for vampires if you can hit their heart directly. And, if one could pull off a way to do it without exploding himself, arrows with live grenades attached to them could theoretically work. (Since the speed and accuracy aren't as important in that particular instance.)

That said, as with everyone else, special ammo wouldn't be refilled for free. Not even for arrows.

I wrote out the whole profile and lost the data, so I'm sorry if this is kind of choppy.

Name: Eve Linden

Gender and age: Female; 15

Appearance: She has mud brown eyes and short, black curly hair. She's short and stocky, but has some muscle on her. Her skin is slightly dark. She always wears a brown, pocket-lined jacket, a neon green shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes. She carries around an over-stuffed backpack.

Personality: She's the kind of person who would rather listen than speak, but when she's passionate about the topic, she won't stop talking. She likes to act stoic, but can be very emotional. She's brave enough, but if she's confronting one of her fears, she tends to panic. She's, for the most part, kind, but if something strikes her the wrong way, she can be irrationally angry. She sees the world in black and white and can be gullible at times. She's fairly intelligent, and loves to learn. She likes to be prepared, but often forgets things. She'd rather follow someone than lead. She tends to procrastinate. She can be paranoid when she's alone, but relaxes when in groups. Her biggest pet peeves are when someone comments on her age or gender.

Backstory: She never had any interest in bounty hunting, even though her parents had taken up the occupation. They even trained her in combat, but she still would rather hold down the fort at home and not risk her life. When her parents were sent home one day in comas from a yet-to-be-identified creature, she was forced to take up their roles to earn money for their and her care. She still has no passion for her job, and she doesn't act like she does, either.

Equipment: She carries everything she'd need for short-term survival in her backpack: water, rations, a compass, medicine, ect. She also has several well-loved books, pencils, paper, and a journal. For weapons, she carries around her dad's favorite hunting knife and her mom's favorite handgun, though she can't use them very well yet. The weapon she usually uses is her bo staff with a switchblade hidden in a dent in the wood. . She carries around ingedients for her energy-restoring, magic-laced smoothie-vitamins, dried strawberries, dried bananas, yogurt, ice-when she can.

Skills: She's a decent cook (it won't kill you), and she can do some basic bandaging. She's a fairly good drawer, and is especially good at drawing things she's seen or is seeing. She's proficient in wielding a bo staff, but it's difficult to kill something with her weapon; she usually settles with incapacitating her enemies. She can make a good strategy, but tends to overlook things. The only magic she knows is an energy-booster, and she only knows how to tie it into a certain smoothie. She has a good memory for voices and faces. She has basic hand-to-hand combat skills in that she can throw a good punch.

@Serendipital: I like it; consider her good to go... Just as soon as we get a couple things cleared up. About the "handgun":

Now, since I'm not trying to force people to find specific models, I won't. But I would want a couple questions answered about what kind of handgun it is.

Is it magazine loaded, or a revolver?

Is it a lower caliber, or a higher caliber?

After that we just need to clear up the thing about the ammunition rules. If it's a magazine loaded handgun just mention how many magazines you'd think she takes with her. If it's a revolver, mention either the number of speed loaders or just how many loose rounds she keeps on her. (or both)

If you've got some questions and/or want some advice, I'll try to help the best I can.

I know next to nothing about guns, so could you make a recommendation? All I know is how to shoot a rifle, so...

Also, her age is fine, right? I figured it would add some variety. Also I can only write people my age.

@Serendipital: Well, since your character has no listed skills in relation to shooting, I'd start by assuming that she's not very good at it; unless you didn't intend that or want to change it, obviously.

With that in mind I'd go with a lower caliber handgun, which while weaker, would have lower recoil thus letting her be more accurate and have more control over where the bullets are going. (And in magazine loaded handguns, less chance of a jam.) This is of course, unless you want to give your character a gun they wouldn't be able to use very well.

After that is just deciding between a revolver or magazine loaded, both of which have upsides and downsides: Magazine loaded handguns can hold more ammo and are almost always easier to reload, but can possibly jam; oh, and certain magazine loaded handguns can go full auto. Revolver handguns are nigh impossible to jam, but hold less ammo and are harder to reload, especially if you don't have any speed loaders/moon clips since you'd then have to load in each round separately.

Personally if I were running your character I'd go for a magazine loaded handgun; but then again I just like them more than revolvers for some reason, so take of that what you will.

@Her age: That's fine. I never said anywhere in signups that bounty hunters had to be adults, did I? Now if she were like, under 13 I'd probably recommend making her older, but 15 seems okay. You just won't be as strong as... pretty much all the other characters so far. You'll probably be faster and more agile, though.

Sine it's her mom's gun, it would be pretty high-caliber...so a high-caliber magazine gun? Yeah, she can't shoot very well at all. She'd carry around several cases of bullets (called magazines?) at any one time. About...9? Is that too little?

Magazines are the metal boxes that hold the ammo, which in typical handguns fit into the grip. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magazine_%28firearms%29

Nine is actually quite a lot, since each individual magazine is a full load for the handgun. Which, since you picked a high caliber magazine handgun, could be anywhere from 7 to 15 rounds in each. A total of four (One in, three extra.) would probably be a good number. At least, if you want them to fit comfortably in belt holsters where they're most easily accessible.
