Well, yeah, but not only this franchise is too big on forgiveness, and you have to be a real Grade A Jerk and Threat to get definite punishment, but that only can really happen in the show proper, as well.
I highly doubt it.
I'm not expecting any sort of real Character Development, especially not from Diamond Tiara, but I do think its nice to finally get a Perspective Flip of the typical CMC episode.
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!Just FF 14. It was alright. Although Luna played enough of a part, the story was less about Spike and Luna and more about Spike and Mina, his new dragon friend, who was a cute and enjoyable geek.
Just read Friends Forever #14. The fact that there is a dragon ghetto in Fillydelphia that has apparently been there for a while results in a lot of odd things concerning dragons. Why was there so little information about dragons available in "Dragon Quest" and "Secret of My Excess" if there are even dragons writing superhero books? And Spike's status as an assistant is even odder now that we know that there are friendly dragon families who could have taken him in. Other than that, the issue was decent enough. The fangirl dragon was fun. It was disappointing that Luna didn't really do much and that there wasn't a confrontation with a big dragon like implied by the cover, though.
Well, to be honest, the same could be said for the Fluttershy/Zecora issue.
It was definitely a fun issue. I liked the stuff about needing a dragon writer to get a good depiction of a dragon character - some very nice meta commentary. And the story as a whole was cute and fun.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.I share the same concerns as Sigma. Aside from that, I feel like the Fire Snail just kind of came out of nowhere. Sure, there was a bit of foreshadowing, but there was barely any information about them. Like, why would they mostly hang out in sewers and then decide to wander into buildings at night? Also, how does Luna know about filly!Twi's dreams since she would've still been imprisoned (not that I don't appreciate more geeky!Twi, but it doesn't make sense for Luna to have retained that power as NMM, since it'd probably be psychologically dangerous to the ponies for her to keep it)?
I did really like the meta humour. It played things just subtly enough that it didn't feel like the characters were breaking the fourth wall. What interactions Luna and Spike had was pretty good. Like, Luna had some really, really poignant lines. It's too bad she spent half of the comic absent. :/
FE: New Mystery Fresh Cart Lunatic 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiRead the Spike & Luna issue. On one hand, the existence of Dragon Town kinda goes against show canon, but I'm willing to overlook that for a cute nerdy dragon girl and a good "Not all X-Race are evil" moral.
...Now where's all the Spike/Mina fanart??
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you! That actually brings up a more general question for me: do any of the comic characters get much for fanart? I'll admit I'm not on the up-and-up with fanart these days, but I'm trying to think of comic characters who got enough for me to notice and I'm coming up blank.
FE: New Mystery Fresh Cart Lunatic 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiDoes Nightmare Rarity count? She has quite a lot of fanart, I still see the occasional Nightmarity piece crop up from time to time. Tiberius and Wheat Grass are probably the next two popular off the top of my head. Long Play has depressingly little despite the fact he's Vinyl Scratch's brother. Seriously, you'd think the fandom would jump on that and go to town.
So, uh, long answer is not really outside of a select few. Maybe they show up more in fanfics?
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!I guess Nightmarity half-counts? I noticed Tiberius got latched onto a lot, but I haven't seen much of him. I suppose it's clear that he and Wheat Grass do have a bit of a niche, but none of it really matches any of the clinging that we got when it came to say Maud or Coco.
One of these days, I want to draw Loop-de-Loop from the Dash/Spitfire FF, but I've got a few other projects ahead of her for those rare times that I pick up a pencil these days.
FE: New Mystery Fresh Cart Lunatic 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI suppose not everyone reads the comics, even if they have done really well. It doesn't seem likely we'll get any Canon Immigrants outside of an animator throwing something in the background (wouldn't be too hard to add Tiberius to any given Luna scene, would it?).
You know it just occurred to me that Wheat Grass & Flax Seed have become minor Breakout Characters. They keep making cameos ever since the Rarity Micro, and not just in issues drawn by Andy Price. I know a few other IDW One Shot Characters have popped up here and there since their initial appearance, but Wheat & Flax seem to do so more frequently. I guess everyone likes hippie ponies.
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!Hehe, evidently. And after that one Twitter post, I'm highly doubtful of Canon Immigrants too.
FE: New Mystery Fresh Cart Lunatic 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiSweetcream Scoops has her fans. Most of the stuff relating to her is NSFW but still.
But she started out as a Blind Bag pony, not a comic OC.
She's also more known for being Big Mac's stalker in the comics than for that though.
It's official. The worst MLP character in existence goes to Well-To-Do. I really wish he just straight up died. Seriously, this entire arc was doomed the moment he showed his face. Oh well, at least this arc ended better than the previous one.

May Well-To-Do suffer a Sarlacc-like fate of being digested for over a 1000 years.
Yeah the whole Amusement Park Parody side of the story didn't mesh well with the Mystical Fantasy Deer side, but I think this one ended better than the Western Story Arc. (Not saying much, I know)
Next month, Masked Wrestler Cheerilee! Also, looks like we have a Twilight & Big Mac Friends Forever issue coming down the line. I don't think they've interacted all that much, in the show or the comic so this should be interesting. I wonder if Smarty Pants will get brought up, that was her childhood doll before Mac ran off with it.
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!Well, that was something. Not particularly insufferable but I'm glad it's over.
Now we've got Derpibooru fetish come to lifepony luchadoras to look forward to.
And we already have a preview!
Rarity's not the only one with connections, it seems. This one's looking good.
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you!Cheerilee is actually the wrestler and her sister's posing as her instead, so Rarity doesn't learn that embarrassing secret. Calling it!
The art's really good, but something about the style, the heads, the body language and the sequential flow gives me serious vibes of seeing a Chuck Jones storyboard. Which isn't a bad thing, mind.
Welp, Well-To-Do certainly grabbed the villain ball pretty hard at the end there. I mean, sure, he wasn't all that likeable in the first issue, he wasn't doing anything wrong. I suppose it was an okay way to play out a pretty stock storyline in the end.

Or just finally get put in their place and suffer for all the crap they get away with and finally get what's coming to them.
