@Kyun

Yeah...comedy. If you wanted a family friendly joke crap show, watch Sesame Street. If you're an adult you can grin and bear it. Unless the show talked about your dead son I really dun understand your grief. Religion is made fun of everyday, racism, etc. South Park has been more vulgar than any show. in roast of Rosanne Jeff Rogers says it best: Comedy comes from pain

[up]And not everyone finds it funny. I get being opening minded about vulgarity of comedy, but you're being no different expecting everyone to have the same stance.

Seth is hit or miss for me.

I'm not forcing you. I'm just saying be open-minded and not allow your hurt feelings to stand in the way of enjoying a program. Also it'll really make you suffer socially being so sensitive.

@ Mattonymy

lol what? Dude I like Sesame Street. I'm saying if you're the type who gets offended over everything go watch a kids program since you can't handle adult animation comedy.

No acting nominations for Skyfall? What the hell?

Betting that Mirror, Mirror will win Best Costuming, mainly because the person died.

I'm guessing that Best Original Song will go to either Suddenly or Skyfall. Personally, I'm rooting for Skyfall.

It ought to be said that this is a deeply American point of view. We live to rip apart sacred cows, other countries think we're all nuts.

Anyway, I wouldn't even compliment Family Guy by saying it takes out sacred cows. Some of the jokes are really random, especially the potshots at celebrities. Penelope Cruz has a horse face, Corey Haim lives in a sewer, Liza Minelli is fat and ugly. Just...fuck you.

Really I think Seth will work because as I've said, if anybody could pull of the Hollywood golden age sensibilities and aesthetic of celebrating the industry while also affectionately mocking it, its him.

And honestly while he oversees FG, its not as if he writes every episode. How much of the deliberately offensive shock humor can be directly attributed to him is hard to quantify.

The second the writers turned the show into their soapbox to voice their world views, they opened themselves up to the criticism. Should people have thicker skin? Sure, but that doesn't mean that "comedy" is the end all defense to any criticism either.

@Lionheart0

lol ya know a lot of writers for adult animated television shows do that. Also it's not necessarily their views they're explaining but common ones. South Park has done it, Futurama has done it, The Boondocks has done it. You make it sound like the humorous punchlines which center on controversial topics, or religions and etc are really his own. All that's known is that he's atheist, and a Democrat. Any other yak is really you guys blowing things far out of proportion.

Yeah yeah, we know you're friends with B Ill Rielly, Seth. You don't need to include him in what I consider one of the worst Family Guy episodes ever.

You mean Bill Maher?

That episode was actually funny seeing Brian's overinflated ego get his ass served by Maher, Aariana Huffington, and Dana Goldman.

EDIT:

Take your FG complaints to the FG thread.

I never said they were his own. I even made a point of it being the writers. And yeah, some people just aren't into his brand of comedy either. He has three shows on Fox, all with similar comedy styles. Some people don't care for the politics and others just don't find the guy funny.

And you're the one who brought up Family Guy in the first place. I'm just responding.

I don't like Family Guy, but Ted was hilarious.

I honestly can't wait for the older members of the Academy to die. The Dark Knight Rises gets no nominations, The Hobbit gets a few, Skyfall gets no acing nominations.

Society is ruled by old men behind the times, basically.

They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!

TDKR wasn't that great anyway and neither was The Hobbit. At most, they should've only gotten technical nominations.

The lack of acting nominations for Skyfall is the only thing that genuinely pissed me off. I liked Hobbit, but they're probably saving all its awards for the last movie, anyway. And yeah, TDKR was only just okay when you look back on it.

Even the positive reviews of TDKR said it wasn't as good as TDK, even while praising Tom Hardy as Bane he wasn't going to get any acting nominations. I think in large part TDK got a huge amount of buzz because of Heath Ledger's death, it managed to push the film past the general comic-book movie stigma.

[up]Nah, TDK was a much better film. And had more ambigous politics too.
