Yep.

The studio bosses don't seem to realize that without the VFX guys, EVERYTHING stops. From game shows, which have a surprisingly large amount of VFX staff - all the graphics, all the onscreen text, the folks that do the credits, to the CSI clones and indeed all the way up to the big budget movies.

The VFX folks walk out, Hollywood shuts down. Especially if the workers hack the computers to stop any strike breaker coming along and gaining access to the systems. No one else in Hollywood knows how to do the work that the VFX folks do, after all.

Well at least animated films will continue.

No wait. Animated films are 100% special effects!!!!!

>: Man up, Hollywood.

That's the thing. Hollywood needs to cut their budgets, but they repeatedly go about it in the stupidest way possible by underpaying their staff, trying to undercut the VFX houses and so on.

I welcome VFX teams screwing Hollywood to the sticking place.

It's everything I ever dreamed would happen to greedy ass Hollywood, I'm so happy that revengeance for Hollywood's abysmal karma is finally here.

Somehow Les Miserables winning so many Oscars is gonna be ironic as hell. Songs of angry men indeed.

I don't think VFX people have a union, which is a downright shame.

Guys! Dr. Horrible was released during and as a result of the first writer's strike! Joss has wanted to do Dr. Horrible 2 for a long time, and he's already said he's filming it this spring. Is this really a coincidence? surprised

Um, yes, it is a coincidence. The writers strike was different. With the writers strike, there were ways of getting around it. In this case, the vast majority of Hollywood's output can't even be finished if the VFX companies refuse to work. The only exception would probably be something along the lines of 30 Rock's live episodes and maybe not even then. I doubt Whedon is an expert on everything that needs to be done to finish something like Dr. Horrible.

There is a lot of pressure in Hollywood amongst the VFX folks to unionize. It will happen. And as soon as they get incorporated as such, boom, strike!

And it seems the world wide community of VFX folks is pissed off as hell as well.

I read an idea someone had to have Adele sing Goldfinger in the style of Skyfall and to have Shirley Bassey sing Skyfall in the style of Goldfinger. The sheer What Could Have Been is killing me. sad

Dude wins at life cool

EDIT:

At responses on last page:

Seth's singing is hardly limited to Family Guy. He's a music artist as well ya know. -_-

For people who are so insistent criticizing the holy hell out of him I thought you'd at least know that. If you don't know that I suggest you not be too ridiculously critical.

Well I heard it on CONAN on a new episode tonight.

So I suppose they want him to do it, even if he doesn't.

The Oscars: Resignations Not Accepted

So now we know why Bob Hope did it 18 times. They had snipers in position.
