Ambiguous Name: The Last Resort

Should The Last Resort be moved to Series/Last Resort? (And what is the policy on namespaces for works?)

There are other works with this exact title, or variants of. Being a stock phrase, this could also be confused with tropes referencing it.

Fixed the tag. For reference, please use Wiki Words in the "article" box in the threadcreate function.

Works indeed go to their own namespaces, in this case, Series/. If there are other works with this name, turn the main page into a disambig and index it on Ambiguity Index.

Agreed - having just written the "Role Association" entry for this, I'll change the link.

Moved to Series/ Also there appears to be a page for LiveActionTelevision.Last Resort which was describing the same show (merged the descriptions), and there's a reference to a 1980 sitcom of the same name on "Rear Window" Witness. It could use some cross- wicking, though.

My instinct is to make the page a Disambiguation, because it shares it's name with a webcomic, and a part of speech that will attract incorrect use as a trope, although it should then recommend appropriate other tropes to use instead.

[up]Your instinct is correct—in fact, both of Main.Last Resort and Main. The Last Resort should probably be made into disambiguation pages. Don't forget to set the page type for all the pages, and list the disambiguation pages on Ambiguity Index.

It would certainly be a plus if you could think of a trope to mention, but I wouldn't worry too much if you can't. We don't have any evidence that people are treating the name as a trope, so we can wait for wiki magic to work its stuff.

Page has been moved to Series/LastResort, Main.Last Resort is a disambiguation and Main. The Last Resort currently redirects there. LiveActionTelevision/ has been cutlisted, wicks put on namespace migration: anything else to do before this is sorted?

[up]Fix the indexes. The current indexes have to have the namespace added, so they appear on the proper work page.

Judging from the presence of the National Lampoon Films index on the page, there's probably a Film.Last Resort as well. You should try to find out if we have a page on that under another name, like, say, National Lampoons Last Resort, and list it on the disambiguation page as well the index. Also, make Film.Last Resort a redirect. If we don't have a page for it, add a redlink for Film.Last Resort on the disambiguation page, and the aforementioned index.

You also need to check for indexes on Main. The Last Resort. To do that, you'll probably have to make it not be a redirect, at least temporarily. I suggest copying the current Main.Last Resort page in while you check and fix the indexes, and then turn it back into a redirect after you're done.

Once you've done all that, list Main.Last Resort on Ambiguity Index.

If you need help with any of this, please feel free to ask.

The character page linked from it right now is for a webcomic of the same name, which actually makes for hilarious reading if you don't realize it at first...

Actually the Character page is a redirect, which would be easily fixed if someone wanted to do a page for Series.Last Resort, but until then, should it be cutlisted/ blanked?

I've moved the links to Film.National Lampoons Last Resort; it's not been writeen yet, but it's there if someone wants to

You still haven't finished fixing the indexes. They appear at the bottom of the page(s). I'd be happy to finish cleaning up, but I thought you might appreciate the learning experience. If I'm wrong, just let me know.

Not especially, just didn't realise one of the indexes wasn't Ambiguity. (Which it now is)

Oh, I almost forgot about the character page. Yeah, that should be soft-split or something, to make it clear which "Last Resort" those characters are from. Something along the lines of the way this YMMV page is done.

Similar things probably need to be done with the YMMV and WMG pages.

Silly me, thinking we were almost done here. :)
