Only 4 heroes in all comic books have a consistently good rogue's gallery.
1. Batman
2. Spider-Man
3. X-Men
4. Superman
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.Nope. And honestly, Flash's rogues gallery sucked until Mark Waid came along.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comWell when I say the Flash I mean Wally West. So for the most part I automatically assume around the time of Mark Waid's run.

Plus the show's operating under a "DCU with no powers" rule, so that edits out a LOT of heroes and villains.
There was a DC villain, no powers, he just had a backpack that he pulled different weapons out of. That guy would be a nice fit on Arrow. Don't remember his name, though.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Is this show operating under the no powers rule? I was under the impression that superpowers would make an appearance later.
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsWell, they're more like Charles Atlas Superpower, on the level of Improbable Aiming Skills and such.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Didn't like how they handled Deathstroke. He's a master strategist and manipulator, I hope they make him into more than just dumb muscle. I also wish they hadn't, apparently, killed off Deadshot, although I didn't like how they portrayed him either.
Trump delenda estLast I heard, WB was waffling. I suspect it will keep to no powers for a couple seasons, tops, then as soon as its ratings flag at all, super powered crossover reveal.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comI had assumed that there would be no obvious superpowers in the first season or two (or at least minimal ones) because of budgetary reasons.
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsIn the meantime, we get the Royal Flush Gang next week, as hockey-masked bank robbers, as opposed to......did the actual RFG have powers? I thought all they had were playing cards they flew on and high-tech, card themed weapons. Yeah, Ace was a robot, but that's not a power per se.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Nope. They were just bored rich people in silly costumes.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatDude, you just described a LOT of heroes and heroines. :)
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117You're thinking of the version from Batman Beyond. I think in comics they've had several different lineups.

Except for Ace who was. in some versions, a robot, they were just Badass Normals with high tech weaponry.
Trump delenda estNot in the JL:TAS version. There, they were a team of random superhumans freed and recruited by the Joker.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comWell, I watched "An Innocent Man" today. So they are going somewhere in regards to Ollie's more brutal tendencies. Huh. I kinda would've liked it if they spent more time on how they got that one guy off, though.
Also, somehow I thought Diggle and Steele were the same guy. Can't help but feel that reflects poorly on me.

I enjoyed this episode. I thought the handling of the Royal Flush Gang was a nice change of pace for the show, and I like that Diggle (and by extension, the show) is still calling Oliver on his bullshit.
Oh, and the riot shield was a nice touch.

I think my favorite thing about the episode is that Oliver is starting to take steps toward becoming a real superhero, as this is the first time he appears to be actively trying to help people, and Diggle convinces him to go after someone not for revenge but simply because it's the right thing to do.
Yeah, Ollie reminded me very much of his comic book counterpart here. What with the whole wanting to focus on evil businessmen and 1% percenters, and viewing street level crime as simply of symptom of society's larger problems. Fortunately, he now has someone to remind him to get off his ass and help people every once in a while.

The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.I've been following this show and it's really been growing on me now. I really liked this latest episode and I love that Ollie treated crime as symptomatic of the social and economic inequalities in society rather than a "superstitious, cowardly lot" who need to be taught the true meaning of fear.
It's something the Nolan Batman films touch on but only briefly (Ducard's speeches early in Batman Begins and Catwoman in TDKR) and I think going more in depth with it will do a lot to differentiate this show from Batman.
If only they could handle the family dramas just as well cause I found all that stuff between Tommy, Thea and Laurel to be rather bland.
But hey, if this show keeps heading in the direction its going we could end up with a cross between Batman, Robin Hood and with the social commentary of The Wire. And boy that'd be a hell of a show.
Speaking of The Wire, does anyone else think Laurel's dad sounds exactly like Detective Mc Nulty?
Nah, Mc Noughlty is more serene and knows to keep a cool head.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Heehee... a breather episode.
Brace yourselves. Bad shit is coming.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Well the next two eps are the Huntress double. So something bad is bound to happen.
An excerpt from the official description of Episode 9:
"Meanwhile, Diggle tells Oliver someone is murdering the people on his father’s list with arrows, which sends Oliver off to face his toughest adversary yet."
Hmm, seems way too early for Tommy to become Merlyn. Roy Harper? Thea? Shado? Arrowette? Or just an original character?
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.
I had kind of assumed he was like The Flash with a strong stable of villains that just aren't well known outside of comicbook circles due to him not being Batman, Superman, or Spider Man (I know he's Marvel, but he is probably one of the most well know superheroes).
Superman has at least 2 memorable villains: Braniac and Lex Luthor.
