Seeing people talk about Jack's real name calls me back to the scene from the Simpsons, where the cartoonists are naming Poochie for some reason.

"So is everyone fine with Jack's real name being Samurai, and his parents being "Mother" and "Emperor"

In seriousness, I remember Genndy Tartovsky saying in the Toonami Q&A that he's not good with names.

On second thought I could see Jack's real name being just "Sun", as word play on the Emperor always calling him "Son".

Apparently that can mean "dimensions" in Japanese. Though it would be pronouced like "Soon."

I'm thinking Son as in Son Goku. Which literally means "grandchild". There aren't many native Japanese words that can be read as "son" but a lot of kanji have "son" as onyomi (Sinicized) readings for names.

I think in one of the early episodes Jack started to introduce with a G sound but cut off and said Jack. Presumably his name starts with a G.

It's Jimmu after his ancestor and the first Emperor of Japan.

Hard or soft? If hard, like in "Genndy" than it's a G. If soft, like in "gentle" it's a J.

I've seen people say that in this thread, but I don't remember it at all, and I've gone back to watch a bunch of the early episodes after season 5 was announced. If you find the scene where you remember that happening then get back to me, but until then, I'm taking it with a grain of salt.

Found it. It could just be Lamarr flubbing the line but it's weird that they didn't fix it if that's the case. It sounds like he starts to say Geh or Gi but corrects himself.

Long story short it's a short fanart which flips the roles of Aku and Jack. It's a story about the shapeshifting master of darkness Aku summoned by a Samurai to unleash unspeakable evil. When Aku refuses the Samurai battles him to force him to do his bidding and conquer the world. Before the final blow could be struck Aku tore open a portal to flee into the future, but upon arriving there he discovers the Samurai has enslaved the world.

Now, limited by the wounds the Samurai inflicted him, Aku must find a way to return to the past to undo the evil that is the nameless Samurai.

It's an intriguing idea.
