He was a refugee during WWI.
"I don't know how I do it. I'm like the Mr. Bean of sex." -DrunkscriblerianWhat if it wasn't Mr. A who caused the cracks but something that is destroying the other wide of the Fourth Wall to get into ours. Could be the reason we need a guardian. If the wall breaks it gets in
Perhaps showing them as a video to other people damages them? Like, turns them into a story, and thus sends them back? It obviously doesn't work on us since we're not natively stories (I hope)
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Doesn't Sherlock Holmes live in England?
Also, me thinks that if we are going to guess why did these characters come here, or why and how the wall broke, we should start thinking why aren't the characters bothered by the surroundings (E.g.: Cinderella isn't bothered by being in a train station)

Any safe haven in a storm. If they are being chased out they would adapt to a world made of fire if they had to. Alternately they have been able to look into our world and have a base idea of what it is like.
But the chase thing works better in my eyes because as soon as Cinderella got here she bolted.
Guess he's been reading in his spare time...
"The marvel is not that the Bear posts well, but that the Bear posts at all."EDIT: Oh, sorry. I'm not a native english speaker. I didn't know you could say 'haven'. Also, I think that, even if you would adpat to a world made of fire, you would think that it's weird. But she didn't seen to think so. I think that all the characters that made through (maybe with the exception of Cheshire) are somehow involved in the break of the wall or at least know that they are fictional.

Not heaven, haven or safe place. You have to imagine that some of the places they come from are pretty darn scary compared to ours.
No, "haven".

"The marvel is not that the Bear posts well, but that the Bear posts at all."I like the "something's destroying the other world" theory, but I'm pretty sure Cinderella bolted because that's what her story is. I mean, she even dropped the slipper.
Maybe the fictional characters are just trying to adapt to their new home, which they may have been sent to unwillingly, and don't want to attract attention (except probably the Cat, it seems to like attention).
Now that I think about it maybe Mr. A created whatever is attacking the other side as a way to force a retcon of Echo Chamber. A beast that could attack every level real and fictional and could only be destroyed by a super retcon on every level.
Agreed when you move to a new town where you don't speak the language or look the part you tend to lay low

Chessie seems to know exactly who sent the other letters, although all he's said about them is "Those mean, mean people".
This does, however, rule out the "Popular Fictional Characters" theory.
Hyperforce Go! http://vmkid.me/Isn't Hercule Poirot popular, or at least well known? Also, how many heads did the dog in WTF had? 2 or 3?
I saw three
Could be because they live in a different realm of fiction
It removes the major clue about it- The "Welcome to Hogwarts" message, which would have implied a link to Harry Potter.
The letters seem to be from the characters he's discussed on the show, as well as one from Mr. A.

Hyperforce Go! http://vmkid.me/I am only seeing two. Then it would explain the missing snake as the Cerberus' tail. The two headed dog was Cerberus brother (I hope I am not mistaken).

After this latest WTF episode I would not be at all surprised to see Joe get abducted...think the letter writers might be refugees that don't want to to be returned.
It's meat on a stick...so, yes.@Victin: Ooh, something I'm good at! Mythology!
Not all depictions of Cerberus gave him the snake tail. You're partially right about the two-headed dog, though. He was Orthrus and he was indeed Cerberus's brother, but the dog turned to stone was named Laelaps.
Also, I watched the dog clip and it's definitely three heads.
"We're home, Chewie."Yeah, I checked and I realized I was talking about two different dogs. Also, I can only see two heads, even in 1080p. It must be me so. Nevermind.
Sorry, but what was the reason Hercule Poirrot went to England again? I forgot.
MR. A lives in between the worlds.
