Everyone calm down and think about this for a second.
You're ripping on a film that we don't know anything about yet because of a colon. Two dots.
I think what they are trying to say is that Star Trek is such a massive franchise that the movies are identified by their subtitle and that somehow turns people away from wanting to see it. They wanted the movie to have a name and not a subtitle, which I can kind of understand but the alternative should be something completely new or merely going with Star Trek 11, not putting the name into a sentence.

And the fact that a professional writer couldn't express this concept as well as that does not make me want to go see their work.
Also, it's Star Trek 12.
But calling it Star Trek 2 will make everyone think Wrath Of Khan.
You win this round imadinosaur.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackAbrams revealed 3 frames of the film on Conan.
It's Spock in a special suit in a volcano. Coutning down to freeze frame analysis in 3..2...1..
(Also I love the effort to keep this film a secret. First Karl Urban's prank on youtube and now this)

I enjoyed the reboot, I will be looking forward to Star Trek No Comma Stupid Title.
Rumors seem to really want Benedict Cumberbatch to turn out to be playing Khan. Others say Gary Mitchell. Having just seen Wrath of Khan, they better not even attempt to try and fill Ricardo Montalban's shoes.
I feel like they might be stupid enough to do Khan but I don't think they should since it would just make the expectations for this movie unbelievably high.
I can understand doing a remake of something that wasn't particularly good because you think you can do it better. I don't understand why (other than for money) someone would a attempt a remake of something that was already good, critically acclaimed, and successful. The original already exists; you don't need a copy of it.
Well then I guess they're remaking Star Trek 5.
The Final Frontier: Remade Edition, with Sybok as legitimately crazy cult leader whom after Vulcan's destruction, believes himself the savior of his people. He brainwashes Starfleet members one ship at a time (including half the crew of the Enterprise) till he can harness the power of Sha Ka Ree and make a new homeworld.

That one was flawed fromthe beggining. A good use for Sybock might be good but the actual story would be difficult to salvage.
Am I a good man or a bad man?Now how about you fix the "Looking for God" plot?
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatWe Indy Jones the plot with Sybok supposedly looking for god to help Vulcan, but actually wants the power of Sha Ka Ree to ascend himself to godhood as he believes he's destined.

With a name like this, there had better be a Polandball reference somewhere in the plot.
Anyone else want to see the TOS crew fight the Borg in this movie?

We really don't know much of anything about this film at this point, other than the somewhat bizarre title, so I think I'll withhold either dumping on it or getting excited till we learn a bit more. However, I liked 2009 Star Trek film, so I'm inclined to be reasonably optimistic.
I'm excited about this.
I've been a Star Trek fan since 2007, so this series of movies are the only access to in-development Trek I've actually had.
This just in. Plot synopsis for Star Trek Into Darkness revealed:

Well, that's not a lot to go on, is it?
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.Apparently, if you want more, you need to go to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in IMAX 3D and you'll get the first nine minutes of the movie. Unfortunately, that's not an option for me - the local IMAX theatre only shows the IMAX documentary stuff.

"Highly anticipated". Oh how I love marketing fluff.
I'll never get the hang of all the re-imagining and prequelizing. Kirk as a slick schoolboy with the empty face of a Barbie doll? Not for me. I might watch it for fun, but it'll never mean anything. It just can't compare to watching my beloved Spock sacrifice himself, the epic opening of First Contact, or seeing the sheer size of the ship finally depicted in an adequate manner in the same movie.
I was a lot younger then, and a true SF geek... I guess I'm just too old now. This is for the Next Generation, in the true sense of the word. Not that I'm not happy for them. Everyone can have their own little big universe.
