I like that. It is not completely clear why he killed them, I don't think, but good enough. The caption can say that.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. They're elves, they're staring at him condescendingly. What more reason does he need? The trope is about a firm rebuke of a society that lords their "superiority" over others. How more firm a rebuke can you give than to kill them where they stand? "Screw you elves" indeed.

Definite improvement over the previous ones.
The head lying there is a nice touch, as it reinforces the connection between the images. I approve.
Check out my fanfiction! That's a lot clearer; good work, Mad Cat.
I'm happy with how it looks in the sandbox.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I love that guy on the right. Just about everything about him says "Condescending Elf," and there he is beheaded in the bottom half.
Now that I see it in the sandbox I'm not too crazy about the image reaching down into the examples, but it's definitely an improvement. Only reason I see not to use it is if there's an image of equal clarity that's also shorter.
"Silent Hill always gives the best presents." -agentjr "Death feels like acoustic guitar." -helloweenI think if it's downsized much, the clarity of that elf's ears may be lost.
Even a single image of the two reaches down into the examples on my screen, though, so I'd say it's unavoidable, unless we want a very small image (I don't).
Check out my fanfiction!Heh. While I was reading this topic the image was changed. New image is awesome.
The image has never changed.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Reaching down can't be helped on account of the description being so short.
That new one is a definitive improvement; like trickdice said, the smug guy on the right makes it.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."A couple more votes for the last suggestion and we can run with it.
I vote for!
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!A vote for the Skyrim pic.
If a chicken crosses the road and nobody else is around to see it, does the road move beneath the chicken instead? And there we go. The new pic's up, potholed, and tagged. I took off the old caption; do we want to recycle it, go with the one I put on the sandbox page, something different, or just go without?
"We will prove the superiority of Mer over Man -"
*VIOLENCE*
I'm not a fan of the "riiiight" part.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."I figured it would fit with the sentiment of the trope, but I don't mind to take it out if that's the consensus.
"Some people object more vigorously than others"?
My Games & WritingI don't think it needs a caption; the image plus page title make it perfectly clear.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! The name (Screw You, Elves!) and some smug then dead elves don't say anything "perfectly clearly" I don't think. I like the superiority thing.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I'd say replace 'riiiight' with "Superior at the art of dying." Or something evocative of the Dalek/Cybermen confrontation.
"Silent Hill always gives the best presents." -agentjr "Death feels like acoustic guitar." -helloweenThat's not a bad idea either.
If you've seen any ad for Skyrim, you've seen Marketing Posterboy Dragonborn.
The helmet's coming off in any case.
The Errant Story pic is even less suited, because to understand it's about this trope, you have to actually read the text in the pic. I had zero clue that there was curt dismissal of elves going on until I read it, and reading requires more than a cursory glance. There's no way around that, unlike the Skyrim scene which can be refined. If I wanted to read about "Screw You Elves!", there's plenty of text to below and to the left of the image. The point of the trope image is to show, not tell.
In any case, in a fit of random hilarity, my hacking down the elves this time resulted in the robe's head getting lopped off. I used that one for extra effect. Only 50 or so pixels off of perfect square.
