I was under the impression that violence is perfectly acceptable when you're being sexually assaulted. Has...has that changed?
Let's hope not. I consider violence to be perfectly acceptable and understandable in some situations. Especially when it comes to protecting yourself or maybe others who are being threatened or abused in some way.

Please don't feed the trolls! This thread is awful. The discussion is nearly as depressing as the link.
Eh? Am I missing something? Everyone's saying this was horrible.
Violence is ok in self-defense. In this case there was one man doing something that in no way was followed by anything that required self-defense. He didn't attempt anything beyond what he had done (from what I understand) yet people here would have been pretty ok with him being beaten up. You would think that any violence that isn't self-defense would be frown upon.
Except, you know, he was freakin' sexually harrassing her.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."And yet you were also objecting to the people who say she should've slapped him.

And that's wrong, but beating other people is also wrong. 2 wrongs don't make 1 right.
Yes, because I object to violence in all of its forms. Slapping might be a pretty minor thing and less severe than what he did, yet it would not have been an appropriate response. Getting the security was.
I don't know you, but I think that hitting a guy trying to molest you is a pretty valid act of self-defense.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Yeah, hitting a guy who is sexually harassing you should easily qualify for self-defense.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!She seemed to get out of it pretty fine. It's not self-defense if you can just walk away.
...
You should just stop talking now.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Oh gawd my brain just imploded.
Just... leave this thread, ok? Don't say anything more...
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Okay, now I get what Cthulboohoo was talking about.
Why, because you've run out of arguments? Would you say a woman who had done that to a man should have been slapped? I merely want to point out a fairly obvious Double Standard.

Yeah, I would. It's still self-defense.
I wouldn't be condemning her if she had slapped him, but saying that she should have slapped the guy is just wrong. I think she did the right thing by reporting it to security, it's a shame that they didn't do their job.
Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.Sexual harassment, no matter what, is a fairly serious thing! It should be treated that way! You sound more like a misogynist than someone who wants to show a Double Standard, so do the rest of us a favor and shut up!
And for your record, I'd slap the girl if something like that happened to me!

Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!I guess it could have been qualified for self-defense in court. Still, I had the feeling that people here didn't want violence to happen because of it but because of a sort of revenge. And that's not acceptable.
Yeah, pretty much my opinion. I might have gone a bit overboard here.

In normal situations I Wouldn't Hit a Girl, but when stuff like that happens...

"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Based on her statement in her blog it appears she did in fact walk away from the situation without needing to be violent herself. If she had clocked him one, though, it would definitely be upheld as self-defence.

A woman being approached by a man & forced to touch his dick is probably going to feel more threatened than a man being approached by a woman and being forced to touch her vag. Both are creepy, of course, but one situation is more likely to escalate.

Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent. The thing about girls doing that to guys is that guys want that to happen so its not sexual harrasment.
