Let X Be the Unknown is basically the same as Xtreme Kool Letterz, only restricted to only the letter X. I don't really see a point in creating 26 subpages for Xtreme Kool Letterz, and fail to see how this is different.

Also, the page itself has attracted numerous x-amples of simply "anything that has an X in its name", regardless of whether that x is supposed to indicate coolness, or is e.g. simply the Roman numeral for 10.

This gets 42 wicks, 14 inbounds, compared to over 600 for Xtreme Kool Letterz. I think some merging is in order here..

This is X is mysterious. That is X makes things cooler.

[up] No, the header also specifies "cooler", and the examples really aren't just about mysterious x'es.

Title is completely misleading. "Let X Be the Unknown" implies that this is about assigning monikers to unknown things, but it's not.

Is "X as unknown" a trope? If yes, we could transplant it into here and merge the current trope into Xtreme Kool Letterz.

I see another subtrope of Xtreme Kool Letterz, where X is a abbreviation for another word. X-games uses it a lot.

Yeah, but it's still not the same as assigning a label (usually X) to an unknown quantity.

To the OP: The point you are missing is that, even if this seems like a subset of Xtreme Kool Letterz, there is a disproportionate number of examples of the letter X being singled out as more cool/mysterious than other letters, and thus it does merit its own trope.

However, I think it's also worth noting that a large number of those uses of X are, in fact, meant to suggest an "unknown" quantity and not just that it's cool or mysterious. So while the trope should stay, it does merit a rewrite or specification.
