Time to play Guess That Trope! It's about a new superhero who decides to rescue people from a burning building... or, apparently, other natural disaster. So, it's not necessarily specific to burning buildings AND it's not about any rescue from burning buildings.

Don't know whether or to what extent it's misused (most of the examples I saw on the page itself appear to be fine), but given that its inbound link numbers are 40/9, maybe that's a non-issue.

I actually guessed it. It is a valid trope as far I can tell. Even if you want to use the current name to a more broader trope, the current trope should stay with a new name.

I don't believe "rescue from fire buildings" alone is trope-worthy, though.

I kind of think rescue from a burning building is tropeworthy - especially to shoe off a character's heroism. But that's not this trope. This one definitely needs a more indicative name.

[up][up] It exists as Heroic Fire Rescue.

This is a perfectly valid trope but it has a highly misleading name. It needs a title that clarifies the superpower part. "Compelled To Super" or "This Looks Like A job For A New Superhero" are what I can think of.

I would edit this trope to mean "superhero makes his 1st rescue from a disaster (no villians); 1st one in a movie/series does count". Does that already exist? I say it's a valid trope.

[up] That should likely be made part of the trope, that there is no villain, or at least no obvious direct connection (one might get revealed later). This makes the hero's first rescue simpler and easier than an actual confrontation.

Metz's suggested name sounds good to me. (Maybe "Superhero's First Heroics" to clarify its scope.) And broaden the definition to encompass any sort of "mundane" heroic (that is, not fighting a supervillain of any sort). Already some of the examples cover cases of defeating ordinary criminals, as well as natural disasters or fires. The key part is that this is where the protagonist decides to become a hero.

Will that need two crowners?

This definitively needs a rename. On the "rescue from a burning building" thing, someone could go to YKTTW with it.

[up]We have that, it's Heroic Fire Rescue. Which is just another reason to rename this one.

Superhero Disaster Introduction?

I'm a little worried that it could be misinterpreted as a disastrous introduction, but if read carefully there's no way that it could mean that...

I'd like to get the word "Rescue" in there if possible. I think it's an important keyword for the trope.

I don't like "Introduction" because the default interpretation for that, I think, would be an introduction to the character, where the trope is really an introduction for the character to his role as a hero. If that makes sense.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

Entry Level Heroism is too much of a word salad jumble, it just sounds awkward. Hero's First Rescue is much better.
