Good image, but it needs some of the edges cropped out.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhy? Just to ruin the composition? :)
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. To make the relevant part of the image larger. To put the emphasis on the fact that her feet are chained to a cement block.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.That's not too shabby. How's this◊?
Took me some time to realize that that was a skeleton attached to the cement block.
I have a message from another time...Um, yeah, skeleton isn't so good. Just a part of it, too covered in moss... Doesn't really work.
I wonder what's the source of the one suggested by Cobra...

Found it in GIS.
How about something from this Making Fiends episode about the joys of Concrete Shoes?

Hmmmm...not bad, but I think I like the painting a little better.

I love that screenshot; it's very unusual. The painting is decent as well, though.
<Edit: Gee, that typo took long enough to realise.>

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I'd really like to have a media example for page image where possible, but that Making Friends screenshot could use some adjustments, like cropping it down to just the relevant parts and a little brightening/contrast maybe (though I'm not on my own monitor right now so that might be causing the blandness of the image).

please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.I think that Making Fiends artstyle it too abstract to show it clearly =/

11 looks a bit too abstract to me. Most importantly, the cement and the underwater things are not very visible.
6 is more or less good.
7 is lacking in the "person" aspect.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBump...should we crowner this? 6 seems to be the only one that has any consensus behind it.
Crowner, and uploaded:

Bump for votes. The crop of the painting's the only one in the green right now.

This one's safe to call. The new pic's up and tagged; caption or no?

Second one, if any. Or a variant of mine "Her feet were too heavy" (emphasis on how the trope is dangerous)

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.
