The image is more a case of Complacent Gaming Syndrome than anything. Early MvC3 Sentinel was (allegedly) top tier (I think? Not sure) and everyone picked him, turning him into a Tier Induced Scrappy.
But yeah, doesn't illustrate the trope at all.

Pull it.
All you had to do was spam H over and over again (and occasionally Down+H) and you'd chip away your enemies health from across the screen whether they blocked or not. Add in his sheer size, a healthy dose of super armor (meaning no attack could break his own attacks) and a Hyper attack that couldn't be completely blocked without exact timing, and you had a character who was easy to win with because of how extremely cheap he is.
He's not so much a case of "I choose this character because he's all I know", but rather "I choose this character because it's easy to win and it leaves my opponents pissed off in the process."

How would we even begin to adequately pic this? I'm tempted to call this a "no pic" case and leave it be.
Fighting game characters are usually ranked (by players) into "tiers". I got it; but see that is pretty specific, the article is about all Video Games.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I agree the trope is probably not picturable.
I pulled it.
Can't say I can think of replacement that doesn't get into Fan Myopia.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerDoes anyone think some panels from this◊ Brawl In The Family strip might work? The "Complaints from Brawlers that you're too strong and scary" part might drive the point home for those who don't know the game.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Is that the entire comic? We cant use it if it is. Maybe just the last two panels, but it would feel like a necessary detail is being left out.
Nope, that's why I posted the link to the original above.

Thanks for the clarification.

It is 7/12.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I don't like it much. It looks like an example of a tournament organizer banning an option he feels is too strong; that's a different trope.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!A banned character is not necessarily a tier-induced scrappy. Akuma was banned in Super Turbo, but nobody dislikes Akuma for being cheap.
Still, the Meta Knight picture is definitely clearer than the current one.
He's not so much a case of "I choose this character because he's all I know", but rather "I choose this character because it's easy to win and it leaves my opponents pissed off in the process."

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.I am a fan of the Metaknight comic. The "anonymous complaints" sell it for me.
Rhymes with "Protracted."I think using more than half of a copywritten work is pretty sketchy. Seems like if a line were to be drawn anywhere, it would be there. Fair Use is literally case-by-case, but "it's more than half" would probably be a bullet-proof charge of theft.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. The author gave permission to use the Brawl In The Family strip, if that is deemed best. (And also expressed a desire for the full comic to be linked from the caption, tho I am pretty sure that would be true anyway.)
