...does it end with Deadpool fighting through the writer's offices
ophelia, you're breaking my heartI don't know, though it starts with deadpool getting a call from one of the guys at High Moon Studios and making pancakes in his kitchen.
Watch SymphogearThat certainly doesn't sound bad.
Apparently there is also the option to look at lolcats on Deadpool's computer. This game is a buyer if true. Then again, it was already a buyer.
Cortex should take a 12-step plan off a 10-step pier....yes.
ophelia, you're breaking my heartSo far, it sounds better than a lot of Way's 'Pool comics are.
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)Is there a tropes page for the video game? Should we make one? M Iscellaneous S Oup
As a Deadpool video game, it is excellent. They get the character. They understand his world and running gags and how to write for him; I found myself laughing out loud constantly, especially due to Nolan North's delivery. It is not simply a video game featuring Deadpool, it is a Deadpool video game. You as the player are merely along for the ride. You'll need to play/see it to make the distinction. They play with your expectations and hang lampshades everywhere.
As a video game... it's not a triple-A title. There's bugs. There's polish needed in tons of places. There's some fine tuning that could stand to be done. There's filler, but it's hilarious filler. Just don't go in expecting Batman Arkham City.
Yet...it feels like a labor of love. These were the right people to make the game happen. I hope it sells well and they get a bigger budget/more manpower for a sequel.
Still sounds like an instant buy for me. I can forgive average gameplay if a game can make me laugh all the way through. It's the reason I bought Comic Jumper, after all.
Watched pieces of a walkthrough. The gags seem hit and miss, though. The self-aware gags, when they work really work, but when they miss...they're just groan worthy. And Deadpool never shuts up, or at least his inner voices never do. The gameplay sadly looks pretty cut and dry. And more of Daniel Waypool...
Overall, it's a "safe" game from what I've seen. Does a Deadpool game fantastically, for the good and the ill that entails, but doesn't go outside the box much else. I'll probably rent it or get it when it goes on sale in the hopes that they make sequels for this. They so missed a great opportunity to implement a taunt system this time around.

We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Unfortunately, I do not have the necessary equipment to get Deadpool. Still, I can watch Comic Book Cast 2 or Smosh Game's walkthroughs. Can someone post a link to the Deadpool game tropes page? Have an excellent day! -Miscellaneous Soup
Psst... Deadpool's inner voices never shut up in the comics either. You're complaining about an established character trait.

Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Wasn't really fond of that trait in the comics either.
And it's more of a Stop Helping Me thing, since Deadpool clues you in fine on his own, while his inner voices are just kinda...there.

We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)I'm sorry....I love this so much

" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."In other words, it's a Deadpool game rather than a triple-A game?
No, it's just an unpolished game. There's glaring stuff like:
-Falling outside of the level
-Having to stand in a spot to hit a switch and it not working unless you're in the exact right position, even though there's a prompt despite the fact you're a few feet to the left or right of where you need to be.
-The scripting breaking because a NPC is supposed to walk from A to B and you got in the way.
-Not being able to configure all the keys properly (PC version). This is actually the worst offender. Say you want 'Jump' to be something other than spacebar. You can set the key, and it works to jump. But all the fighting combos that require using the jump button still force you to hit spacebar. This goes for any key you try to remap.
-Second worst offense would be the crime of putting a save point BEFORE a cutscene followed by an encounter/boss fight.
That was so fucking good
I can't help but wonder if Wolvie's gonna wake up hours later wondering why his face hurts like hell.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987And then he smells. it.
ophelia, you're breaking my heartSo I hear that even some Deadpool fans don't like this game, purely because the writer attached to it is Daniel Way, who apparently has a reputation of prioritizing stupid humor over actually clever humor and half-decent characterization. Anyone willing to vouch for or against this position?
That's the main gist of the argument. Basically, most of the stories that people highlight as the best Deadpool stories have a good balance between deep pathos and whacky hijinks, since Deadpool's kind of like a homicidal Sad Clown Spiderman. Daniel Way just tends to depict Deadpool as the stupid nutty clown with inner voices most of his non-comic media appearances are based on, and he's the guy who primarily writes Deadpool stories these days.
Oh, don't get me wrong, Daniel Way isn't a bad writer by any means, certainly. The storyline where DP lost his healing factor was fantastic. But Way's version of Deadpool is a bit too chaotic Randumb at times, so it's rather hit and miss. Especially in a game where you don't have much choice in listening to DP's jokes while you play.

We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)I hate waypool so much. He took a character that was genuinely funny but also had a good deal of depth and made him into a meme spouting idiot and it comes through in this game. It switches out actual jokes for LOL INTERNET and made Deadpool a terrible person. Joe Kelly made Deadpool a terrible person by having him too reprehensible things he then tried to repent for, Daniel Way just sucked out any modicum of charisma or talent and made him a twisted shell of a great character.
Liking modern Deadpool is like liking Superman in the 90's when he got electricity powers and became two people. It's not liking Deadpool at all.
nyo ho ho
The game just came out today.
a lot of people say it's a really fun action game, nothing too innovative, but it doesn't have to be.
And it capture's deadpool perfectly.
