I hope that this topic is self-evident enough that it doesn't need further explanation in the OP, but it would be nice if someone could write a nice summary of the situation just in case someone wants to participate in this discussion and doesn't know what's going on.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur. The topic is entirely without context, so I would really appreciate a summary that says who's on what side and who's trying to do exactly what, myself.
& Alright.
Right now, Viacom pulled their 26 channels from Direct Tv. Stating that Direct Tv does not want to pay the increase on their channels. Direct Tv responded that it would cause a increase on their subscription and they were not force their consumers to pay for it. Viacom also pulled their free online programming for their most popular shows to deal with Direct Tv. This is a fight of a multimedia company vs a cable provider.

The Reaper Games starts anew.A media company in conflict with a television service provider? That almost never happens at least twice per year.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. This is sightly bigger than usual. Mostly because a lot of parents let their kids watch Nick, Nick Jr., and others that Viacom releases.

The Reaper Games starts anew.I don't know about betting on Direct Tv, I would be very reluctant to bet against Viacom in any sort of media clash in the US. The influence they wield is pretty enormous.

The Reaper Games starts anew.Actually, I'm getting the sense that many viewers are getting angry at BOTH Viacom and Direct TV. They really need to work this out.
They are angry at them both.
That does sound like Viacom.
The Reaper Games starts anew.Personally, I think it's more Viacom's fault. Direc TV wanted to do a selective deal, where people pick which channels they want included, and Viacom apparently opted for "all or nothing" and ran out the clock.
I have Cablevision, and I know that they and Viacom had a similar spat about a year or two ago. I got so sick of seeing commercials with Dora going "Oh no!" at the prospect of her show not being seen by Cablevision customers. I think a few months later there was an issue with FOX as well (though I can't remember when exactly it was...and I know it was resolved the day before either some awards show or some really big American Idol episode or something). And one of those two also had a fracas with Time Warner as well.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I got an update. Right now Direct Tv is offering deals for staying with them for this time.
I don't think that Direct Tv is going to cave on this.
The Reaper Games starts anew. They will eventually. Viacom is holding all the cards here, since they know that without their very popular channels, DirecTV customers will either complain loudly and obnoxiously and/or switch service providers.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Apparently Viacom just yanked some of their free online shows, such as The Daily Show. They better resolve this soon. I was going to watch The Daily Show online, since it was supposed to start on Monday. Well I guess we're switching to Uverse.
Just to spite Viacom, you should watch it illegally.

who wants to be a hundred to one John Stewart will lambast them for it.
Knowing him it would one of many things he will talk about.
The Reaper Games starts anew.Well this is annoying.
It's a good thing I've already watched Legend of Korra.
Yeah, I have to wonder what kind of executive told the guys in charge, "hey, you should drop one of the only two decent kids' networks left right when they're in the middle of a sequel to one of the most fantastically acclaimed series ever."
Remember Viacom wants an increase that Direct Tv won't pay for all 26 of their channels.

One that doesnt like being extorted by another company who is acting like spoiled children.
I found a petition against Viacom if anybody wants to sign it.

The Reaper Games starts anew. The part in bold highly subjective. Personally, I'd say that the only major children's network that might be worse than Nick right now is Disney Channel.
That said, it'll be interesting to see how DirectTV families react to the lack of SpongeBob.

I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...
So Viacom is fighting with Direct Tv over raising prices. So far my money is on Direct Tv.
