Sigmund and freed stood looking at Denero's duel "Huh. Let the games begin. It's our new friend."

"Friends" Freed interpreted "That boy has a duel spirit we just don't know who it is. And before you ask how I could possibly know that remember one simple fact. He saw me yesterday."

"So he did. We anyway as I was saying it's our new friends" he said emphasizing the s "but I don't know the other boy, I think I've seen him around campus a few times but that's it."

"Anyway this duel should be interesting we get to see two new decks in action and learn about our potential allies."

"Allies? Why on earth are we checking that?" Sigmund asked

"To be prepared. Anyway from what I've seen Denero could be a invaluable ally or a dangerous enemy. But he needs to calm down and not let battle lust consume him" He said coving up for what he had noticed yesterday

"True Dat. Anyway" Sigmund raised his voice "Good luck Denero!"

"Good Luck my friend. Hunt well." Freed said.

Marcus sat in the front of the audience, he was looking forward to seeing how Peter fared in his duel.

Never wear your heart on your sleeve. That's what theatricality's for.

The voice of Nagare Ryota after a post-match press conference resonated in Regulus' head as he made for his opening draw.

"I'm going first, and thus, I draw!" he declared, swiping a card from the top of his Deck. With a glance, he saw what it was and didn't bother to change his expression, the game face was all that it was.

"I'll play Pot of Duality!"

A pot with two faces carved on either side materialized in front of the Dragunity user.

"With this Spell, I can reveal the top three cards of my Deck, select one to add to my Hand, and shuffle the rest into my Deck!"

Swiping the top three cards, he showed it to his opponent and the audience...

The cards were two copies of Cards of Consonance and one copy of Dragunity Corsesca.

Regulus grinned.

"I'll add Dragunity Corsesca back to my hand and shuffle the rest back to my Deck," he intoned as the two copies of Cards of Consonance returned back to the jar, which promptly faded out of sight. "I'll then play this."

The audience gasped - he already had a copy of Cards of Consonance on hand!

"I'll offer Corsesca to draw two cards."

Corsesca turned into a ball of energy that dive-bombed into the Graveyard of Regulus' Duel Disk as he carefully drew the top two cards of his Deck.

"Hmm," he said. "I'll set a card and end my turn for now."

Gretel looked up from the ground, having kept her eyes firmly closed and head downturned since beginning to walk out of the shaded rest area. It might have lowered a veil of mystery and coolness about her for some of the watchers, and if you didn't see the look of bewilderment on her face when she looked up, the veil would probably have stayed in place.

She cocked her head at the boy in front of her, throwing a slightly envious glance at the glittering jewellery around his neck. Didn't seem that tough...

Then the starter signal was given, and before her hand slipped five cards neatly from her deck, she lifted her free hand and made a 'bring it on' motion to Roxas, the little ring winking in the sun and hinting at her preferred monster type. First turn to him, and Gretel's music only seemed to get louder in the moments of silence before their battle began with Roxas' first draw.

Peter across the field at his opponent. It was that Machine user- what was his name again? Jack, maybe? Something like that, anyway.

In any case, this guy had an annoying duel spirit, and therefore Peter hated him on principle. And he was from the Sky dorm, too, so that was working against him as well.

"Oy, oy, are you thinking what I think you're thinking there, Peter?" Said Golem Sentry, who didn't seem to have thought that sentence all the way through.

Peter suddenly became very focused on the starting signal; drawing his opening hand, and when he saw he had been chosen to go first, making his first draw. He did all of this expressionlessly.

"I play one monster in Face-Down defence and set one card. Turn end."

“that’s it, you make your grand statement about plans, and all you have to show for is a face down, I warn you now, do not underestimate us, if that face down is a bluff, you will regret it” Denero snarled “Now my move, DRAW”

Taking the card from the top of the deck, denero’s expression did not change, his eyes locked with Regulus'.

“Let’s find out if you’re a fool or not then, I summon Jurrac Iguanon, now show me that trap, make this interesting for me”

The dinosaur appeared in a ball of flames (Atk 1700).

Taking a seat in the stands just as the duels were starting, Justin tried to focus on that and not the thoughts that had been in his head since yesterday. Why did losing that battle royale have to bug him so much? Really now, he lost all the time, he never cared... hm... well, he'd never really entered a tournament before... maybe he was just frustrated over losing that? Possibly...

Shaking his head, the young duelist took a look at the matches going on. He wondered why Samantha had been replaced with an unfamiliar girl. Was she disqualified or something...? That couldn't be right...

Regulus only answered his opponent with a grin, as if daring him to come at him with full force.

“Now who am I to ignore that sort of invitation, you want me to come at you, so be it, IGUANON ATTACK, let’s see what this guy’s made of”

The dinosaur charged down the field, aiming its head for Regulus

Jacques happily took to the field. He was nearing the top; soon he would be crowned king.

His opponent was some guy named... Peter? Sounds average.

However, Gamma picked up on something. Jacques, my sensors indicate that our opponent is aligned with a Duel Spirit of his own.

Jacques couldn't help raising an eyebrow over that observation. Interesting...

The Canadian was snapped back to reality as Peter made his move, rather woodenly. "You aren't much fun, Petey; be nice and give the audience a good show! Now let's get started! Draw!!"

Jacques was looking quite smug. "I start my turn by playing Machine Assembly Line! Then, I bring out my good friend Cyber Dragon Zwei!" The mechanical serpent appeared with a fearsome shriek.

The fireball nearly blasted Regulus off his feet, but when he managed to get back up, the grin of his seemed wider, and a lot more manic.

If I had a monster up, I would have returned my Set card to the hand. Better to take a momentary disadvantage now rather than jump the gun, he thought.

I’m sorry, I can’t here you over the sound of me being right, still this guy’s annoying me, I will not be underestimated damn it!

“I warned you not to underestimate us, and now you have paid for your mistake. I end my turn, do learn from your mistake this time” Denero growled

Caramon watched the opening moves of Jacques' duel. He didn't know what Peter ran, so he wasn't sure how well Jacques was able to respond. Still, he did know that he might not see Chimeratech Fortress Dragon, given that there were going to be severely less machines in play this time around.

"Come on Jacques, kick his ass!" If he lost, it was going to be to the winner.

"You want to give them a good show?" said Peter. "Well, in that case, you'll have to prove to me that you're worth a flashy move."

Jacques couldn't help grinning nice and wide. "I can't back down after a challenge like that! Cyber Dragon Zwei, smash his face-down monster with a big ol' Zwei Buster!" The lime green eyes of Zwei flashed as the blast charged before launching at the face-down monster.

There was the faintest hint of a smile in Peter's mouth.

"I activate my trap card, Scrap-Iron Scarecrow." A metal figure popped out of ground, intercepting the dragon's blast. "This card blocks your attack and sets itself back down, so I can use it again next turn."

Jacques' smile twitched but remained. "Well played. I set a card face down and end my turn."

"No face-downs, huh?" Regulus said as he swiped a card for his next turn, the grin not leaving his face.

"Your funeral. Come on out, Dragunity Aklys!"

An armored dragon took to the field, but barely had it settled in, then Regulus continued. "I'll offer Aklys as a tribute to put into play... Dragunity Arma... Mystletainn!"

Aklys burst into motes of light that reconstructed themselves into a larger, yellow dragon. "And when I special summon him, I can choose a low-level Dragon monster to equip to it! I select Dragunity Corsesca!"

A winged harness was equipped on Mystletainn who roared as its sword began to glow. "My turn - Mystletainn, attack his Jurrac!"

With a roar, the yellow dragon soared in and with a swift slash, cleaved Deneros' dinosaur in twain.

"That's not all I can do," Regulus continued. "Due to Corsesca's effect, if a monster it's equipped to defeats an enemy monster in battle, I can select a Level 4 monster of the same attribute and type as the monster equipping Corsesca - from my Deck to my Hand!"

His Duel Disk began to glow as he announced, "My selection is Dragunity Phalanx!"

'Sup?

If there was one moment where Regulus' game face almost collapsed due to laughter, it was this one. That was... kind of unexpected... but it was a long time coming since the month of his arrival here and this contest.

Roxas smiled brightly at his opponent.

"Hi, my name is Roxas. It's nice to meet you."

He pointed to the sky in an overly dramatic fashion.

"Descending from the skies above ..."

He brought his raised hand down to grab a card from his other hand.

"Dazzle us with all of your brilliance!"

He played the card on the field, and a being appeared in front of the sun, making it impossible to be seen clearly.

"Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus(1800/1200), shine!"

The figure descended and landed between the two duelist. A majestic Pegasus adorned with Sapphire crystals stood proudly on the field.

"The light of Pegasus is so beautiful that it draws my Crystal Beast Emerald Tortoise to the field as a continuous spell card."

Behind the Sapphire Pegasus, a emerald crystal formed and began to float.

"I place down one face down and end my turn. I look forward to seeing what you can do."

Roxas resumed giving her a big smile.

Gretel raised an eyebrow, then took a card from her deck to begin her turn. She stared at the cards for a moment, apparently trying to make up her mind about something.

Then, her hand went up again to make the 'bring it' motion again, and she smirked as she ended her turn without a play, apparently deciding that he wasn't worth wasting words on just yet.

End Turn.

If Roxas listened closely enough, he might have been able to make out the track on her music player change.

Iguanon was cut down by the dragon soldier, but Denero’s expression did not change

“ahh so you do have some fight to you then, good, but that oversized lizard won’t change anything”

Regulus' grin didn't change one bit.

"You ain't seen nothin' yet, pardner," he said with a Wild West accent. "I'll end my turn for now."

“Time to take to the hunt, I summon Jurrac Guaiba to the field in attack mode”

Once again a dinosaur appered on the field covered in flames (1700)

“And if it’s all right by you, I think I’ll launch an attack right now, go Guaiba”

The audience looked stunned at this command, as the dragon was clearly stronger.
