Kinda cheesy (due to the 'acting' and voices) but (as a story) the basic idea isn't bad, in my opinion, it might work as a TV episode about Yokai's return (or a new Yokai?).

I just can't believe that Baymax is Clay Puppington. That part where he gets drunk due to his low battery could be compared to how drunk Clay is.

Someone I follow on tumblr is doing a Big Hero 6/ Over the Garden wall cross over and is starting to wonder " Does Baymax have a soul?" and after a long conversation she concluded " well, he has one now."

Of course. He's earned it, if nothing else.

That was her conclusion, in addition to " also he's in the Unknown so he must have one and anyway, I'm the writer what I say goes."

Gotta love a movie in which the villain loses because he effectively runs out of gas.

Also that part where Baymax went stark raving mad with red eyes due to Hiro removing his brother's chip and leaving only that martial arts chip could be compared to how Clay acted in Moral Orel two-parter season 2 finale, Nature.

The difference? Baymax got better, while Clay... you get the idea.

I like to think he got a little Tadashi in him. When you spend that much time, effort, and love on something, you can't help but put a little of your soul into it. I think this includes people. Whenever two souls meet, with every interaction each gets a little of the other. Hiro's got Tadashi too. So do the five others.

if you're going by Kingdom Hearts rules, then the answer is "not yet."

Baymax downloaded an entire database on personal loss on his own initiative. Also, he picked up on idiomatic expressions entirely on his own.

Which means Tadashi programmed him with a self-learning artificial intelligence.

If word got out, I imagine just about every company would be wanting to get a hold of Baymax's (medical) data chip.

That'd be a twist I'd like to see in fic, most fic just have people going after Hiro's inventions. Though Nike's Big Heros series seems to be leaning that way, because yeah, it's true.

interesting thought, though I'm not sure I'll buy in to it being distant past, not with San Fransokyo's geography and city streets in the almost exact layout of "real" SF.... but maybe.
