Oh gods, don't.

If roleplaying with Sabre has taught me one thing, it's that anything you show to the GM first can be used as ammunition.

It's sorta like a Have You Told Anyone Else? situation.

[up] I actually hate it when players hide little tid-bits like that when I'm GM-ing. Especially back story in a T-RPG. While I do sometimes use it for ammo I more often use it as a set piece to help players feel more at home with the setting, so that they feel their character could actually be here doing these things.

[up][up]/[up]Both are fairly valid.

However, I'll say that I rarely use info I'm solely privy to along aside the player as ammunition, I can barely see how it's possible that having exclusive information from the player on something like that could actually give me an upperhand that having it out there for every player wouldn't.

Primarily, I'd say it's useful to establish background information, my account of the Alternate history is hazy at best and small details, for example the Pound/Dollar thing that help establish the different of this verse are too easily gleamed over or I might be able to tie in references to plot stuff or just background events of Bot R if the article needs/would benefit from that sort of background

Fairly high up. I'd say about 40 levels.

I realize in retrospect that I mentioned him taking the stairs, but I'm just going to pretend I said elevator and retcon it into actually having said that if you do the same.

The Chauffer is just a bit of a health nut who really needed to stretch his legs, and Aiden stops at nothing for his story.

Boom.

Since things have been so quiet, here's the list of games I'd like to DM:

Spharae: Alea iacta est: "The Culture RP", this was originally suggested by Lockon Lockon to showcase a conlang and civ. I got in on the action myself, creating a fairly complete conlang and civ around it. Format of the game itself would be split; a combination of Nation management and trade from an Iron age perspective and a small party of traders having adventures and experience each land and their customs up close, players taking turns narrating as their respective cultures are visited.

Others got in on this as well but the ambitious scope and detailed demands make this a high concept game that requires dedicated players: Conlangs would be endgame stuff, not strictly necessary but the final touch. However players would need to be reliable and highly interested with a long attention span; we couldn't have nations falling off the face of the earth at the same rate as P Cs tend to. These are difficult to find, especially with the sort of interest required here, so this has an honourary position as the most exciting game to me that I'm most doubtful will ever see play.

Dark Ages: The Second Dawn of Man: "The Schizo Tech RP" This is a recent idea on my part. The fundamental idea is to make a good Sci-fi Fantasy game. The premise is; The Juice that powers interstellar travel runs out, mankind once masters of the stars, are confined to their colony worlds during an energy crisis. Some switch over to electricity and maintain an advanced asthetic, others aren't so lucky; Terraforming is slowly reversed and various planets are forced to rely on various power sources. Much knowledge has been lost and gained by these pockets of men over the last few centures. Now the discovery of a synthetic source conspires to unite these pockets once more.

The goal in this is to create an over-all Medieval aesthetic; Feudal lords ruling over planets, Heavy religious overtones, counterpart cultures to Europe c. 800. and in some cases a literal regression to Iron Age technology. Within this, there will be technology more advanced than ours, less advanced and what I hope to be some wierd mesh of stuff that you wouldn't see outside of when you rush for a single tech in Civ and get Satellites before the Wheel.

DRRRRP!!: This I've been batting around for over a year. In some ways would be like combining a slow paced well-planned Mafia with a slice of life RP. The concept taking from the DRRR! anime. Players would initially take on the roles of highschool students with something more to them; a friend, or perhaps a group of them, maybe an old sword or maybe a parent they don't talk about. Whatever it is, it gives them power in the confusing city of Shinjuku. The only problem is they aren't alone. The only solution invovles application of gasoline and matches to the people controlling the rest of these factions.

Play would take part in three layers: The 'School', early on this would be almost slice of life. It's more to give other people an idea of the character you are playing, maybe cement the basis for a later alliance. Maybe even just have fun. Next, The 'Chat'. Different names could be taken here. Rumours started. Negociations. Everything is fair game, just becareful because that's how everyone else thinks as well. Next, is the 'Streets', here you can give orders abstractly or else play out in PM with me. Here, the gang war is fought out; wierd things happen.

The goal is to have these merge elegantly and into an awesome climax. PC death is a thing that will happen.

Mythril Aces: A slightly modified reboot is a thing that may happen. For those unfamiliar; Mythril Aces is in many ways like Gundam in deep space; a Corrupt Federation ruled from Earth against a Dynamic Space Dwelling Autocracy, the last hundred years have basically been a forever war between the two factions. This doesn't do it justice, but gives you a decent start point. This reboot marks Lesbian Ace Pilots with a higher kill record than three Richtofens rolled into one and unexplained flying Octopuses as a thing of the past. Stars and Planets are renamed to things that aren't Pokemon references. Stats and the like are rebalanced and reintroduced to allow greater variety. Don't know whether it kills the old personality, but it certainly purges some of the old excesses that made people who read the background stuff cringe a little.

Dawn of Civisation RP: Hydrall's idea, presently unnamed past this title but is essentially a [to my understanding] an RP set around the start of Civisation and would invovle tribes first meeting and forming cities. To my knowledge, it would center around a low fantasy quest, forcing co-operation as the players travel through a strange and interesting world. Details are sparse since it's more a suggestion right now but I'd be willing to bite if I felt there was an audience for it.

There's a couple more things I've thought about, but this has been where the jist of my thought and brain power has been as of late. The reason a lot of these games haven't been implimented is that they are for the most part fairly high concept requiring a lot of plotting and co-ordinating on my end and so far there hasn't been dedicated players enough to make it worth implimentation. While it seems exacting on players, for the most part, I have fairly solid ideas on management that makes them implimentable. I just need a solid base of players. Spharae is by far the most demanding on both DM and player but if it succeeded I think would be the most personally rewarding.

Mythril Aces: Director's Cut gets the Lilith MacDonald Seal of EXPLOSIVE Approval.

Also, I'd be totally down with something like Diplomacy this time.

[up][up]Deep Space. Interstellar Gundam was the intented point. This basically gives the freedom to show more diverged cultures and peoples, further advanced techs [It doesn't look like 1980s outside of the giant Robots] and a lot more freedom of creativity.

Also there was a lightheartedness that the original had that I'm hoping a slightly more organized background won't smother out entirely.

[up]How do you mean like Diplomacy? Last time we tried that without, Queen Rena of Spain was left sitting alone at a tea party.

Main issue on Mythril Aces, isn't that there's no desire or even no drive [though admittedly it's lacking sometimes] but the fact that it's already grown into it's own verse where two of the original forces behind it split off and there's going to be a rather major shift in direction that the people left need to work on. Still, if I shelf everything else, I can push this through faster.

Well, most of those beat my idea for a hero-summoning roleplay where heroes drive cars named after them*

.[lol]

But I dunno, a lot of those seem like they would be hard to roleplay without having the GM scrutinize every detail, or . I'm always down for a mecha RP, though. But I don't know about the first [number of games] games, so something sort of independent/rebooted/set in a different era, that doesn't rely on knowing all that backstory would be cool.

Not really;

Spharae would be a case of people taking shifts as DM, which is difficult but something I hope to achieve if I get the right player base of people with a solid posting history and a lot of interest. If there's a GM over that, it's mostly for balance of power between factions in the RP, veto for bad ideas and making sure there's some sort of plot/excuse for the travellers go there. Also to fill in for any civs that are indeed abandoned. High player commitment, low DM management.

Dark Ages: A lot of world building on my part since I need realism. I'm probably going to need a bunch of handwaves, but I'm hoping for ones that are decent enough to not seem like handwaves. Honestly, it's going to be a lot like 40K minus the Xenos and Imperium, just scattered planets and schizo tech really. I'm just hoping to combine them well, to make something that can really trigger the imagination.

DRRRRP!: Here players have the choice to leave gang encounters to the background initially, appearing on TV and papers abstractly or participating in 1 on 1 sessions with me where I play out a scenario with success based on dice rolls and see if they can alter it. This requires a lot of 1 on 1 play in order to alter the bigger picture. This however is necessary to protect anonymity and keep people on their toes. Here I think knowledge of the show would help, but it's not a deal breaker.

Mythril Aces: The reboot basically keeps the core concepts [Robots, Federation vs. Centauri, etc] but changes the names of a lot of things and how they work. Even seasoned players will need to re-read everything so people who didn't play miss nothing.

Dawn of Civ is standard adventure stuff.

Dawn of Civisation sounds epic to me, it's not conventional but as a person whose been writing low fantasy it's awesome in my mind.

I've been thinking about GM-ing a small game myself, it be short and not heavily action based.

I'm presently waiting for more posts, though if no one has posted by tonight, I'll put up a post myself tomorrow morning.

In the meantimes, I do invite thoughts and further opinions on what's up there. I'd like to have a dedicated group of people interested before expending too much effort on these settings [MA being an exception, since I know there's a group interested in it already, I'm not sole GM and I'm not seeing it die. Though seeing it as a primary point of interest, would help me concentrate on it].

Also, if you have your own settings or games you'd like to run, feel free to post and discuss them.

Well, shit, if you someone to discuss RPs they want to run, there's the one I have linked in my signature that I'm running with Pyrite*

, but as for games that don't actually have signups yet, hmm... well... I really just want to try doing a game with numbers and stuff instead of just going "I shot you" and "No you didn't" [lol]

But forget about that, I want me some robot-punching action that doesn't involve having to read 15,000 posts from a previous game.

Like I've said I like the dawn RP. I also created a RP-er's lounge for all types of RP-ers in troper covens for those interested, and in addition to this I'm considering doing an RP based in the Natsume Yuujinchou verse though a general knowledge of Youkai would be enough to pass.
