Astarotte's Toy. So contreversial, it no longer has a page.
Don't mind me. I'm just a creepy little lurker. Why is that?
In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.Have you seen the Hatedom for that series?
Follow me on tumblr!Have you seen the splits on the thing? You either love it for the epicness or hate it for the admittedly silly story.
Basically, EVA has had all the Broken Base discussions a work of fiction can humanly have, and then some.
I know Alternate Character Interpretation is rampant there.
In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.Is Toradora still considered controversial?
What about Naruto?
@neobowman: What about hating it for the retarded fanbase? I don't personally think that's a good reason to dislike a series, but people think differently...

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.Pretty much all of them. I'm averse to hating something because it's popular, so I was always trying to be positive about famous stories. And let's admit, most of the time, popular stories do have some sort of appeal, so it's not hard to look at that instad of the possible flaws.
Naru Taru. It gives up so much to make its point that the storytelling itself fares very poorly towards the end.
"Polarizing"? I may as well list everything I read/watch. Which I'm not going to do.
If this were about "Controversial" series though, I could be more specific. That, however, is a different question entirely.
Most of my top anime and manga are things that if I brought them up, people would say something like "That's actually really popular." That isn't to say they're free of parts that are love it or hate it though.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."Just because something is popular doesn't mean it can't be polarizing. Hence my dislike of the question.
On the matter of Gurren Lagann, here's something quite interesting; You all doubtless know about how a lot a of old-school animé fans hate the recent trend of moë series, thinking them vapid, boring, girly stuff unworthy of being watched by adult men, and/or laden with misogynistic overtones (the last two are not usually made by the same people).
But here's a moë fan talking about how he hates the sexism inherent in Gurren Lagann (I think he overstates the problem, confusing Nietzschism with masculinity, but then so do the creators to some extent).
The most controversial series I really like would likely be Bakemonogatari. I like it, but I can see why a lot of people don't.
A blog that gets updated on a geological timescale.Evangelion, most likely.
Also, I was, and still am, a fan of Blue Exorcist and its Gecko Ending. Never read the manga and don't really plan to, I found the result more than satisfactory. Although it diverges from the manga, so I'm quite... cautious about the recent season 2 announcement. (I think they did announce season 2)
ERROR: Signature not loadedThat I'm a fan of?
Probably either Neon Genesis Evangelion for the Mind Screw
Or maybe Chrono Crusade for the Downer Ending
Honestly, even if you did enjoy the anime, the Blue Exorcist manga is still amazing. The arc the anime didn't cover was really good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFmGNqji4u0Judging by the hate it gets, apparently Mirai Nikki. I really only read the manga, though.
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.Does the Azumanga Daioh anime count? If so, then I think that it is probably that. It's been a long time since I have watched it, though.
Other than, I am a fan of Koi Kaze and Angel's Egg, amongst others that I may post later when I have more time if I think they count.

My standard Anime Theme song game variant rules: [Censored by ACTA]Fate/Stay Night's anime might have been terrible, but it's one of the first anime i watched, so i'm kind of attached to it.
If you wanna PM me, send it to my mrsunshinesprinkles account; this one is blorked.I know, it's just kinda hard for me to imagine something that tops the sheer HSQ of episode 22.
ERROR: Signature not loadedAzumanga Daioh seems to me one of the consensus-building series in all animé. I've seen more than one anti-moë crusaders mention it as the one moë series they like. K On and Lucky Star get a lot of heat as poster girls for the moë trend, and plenty of people just don't care for them because they're utterly bland for someone who doesn't get the appeal. Azumanga Daioh is hardly ever attacked in this way.
Which I find odd, as I found Lucky Star to be mostly boring but with enough good moments to make it watchable, whereas I find the Azumanga Daioh animated adaptation to be unwatchably slow. It just stretches out jokes far longer than they need. I don't have this problem with the original 4koma, though.

This isn't about stating your own opinions on a particular series or topic. It's about, by your experience, what you find to be the most controversial anime/manga series that you were a fan of.
