Well this is totally not creepy at all.

Disney to release their own branded, Android based, kids focused streaming device.

It will never catch on:

• Xbox one, PS 4 and Nintendo still mean "games" to that age demo
  • Many also have games on their phones
• Disney is a media company first, I don't see them trying to get a lot of 3rd party games and the headaches that would cause: e.g. licensing disputes, ratings disputes, parents objecting to game content, games being available on other platforms at a lower cost.
  • Developing their own games risks being compared to Android games already out there.
  • Oh so Disney wants to take on Netflicks and Amazon prime? Yeah, good luck with that.
  • Disney better have a plan to make sure games and apps on the Google Play store work with it's device or plan for developers don't pull the rug out from under them in favor of another 'droid device.

The Oouya was an attempt and it flopped - most casual gamers wanted to play console games it didn't have. Most geeks and computer people could get the same games on phones or tablets where they ran better. Also games like the red hot Pokemon Go are mobile and the console ain't.

I predict the mouse getting it's fingers burnt.

The funny thing about using the trope It Will Never Catch On here is that said trope usually refers to things that turn out to be wildly popular despite people claiming it won't succeed.

I'm assuming that's not what you're doing since you actually took the time to list the reasons this thing probably won't work out.

I love "It Will Never Catch On" because I've missed it too - I was late to myspace and teh facebook... but Disney is a case where I don't think they're gonna make it. Roku is a household name, cell phones have casual gaming sewn up and honestly I can get any Disney film via Netflicks or somesuch.

But if the house of Mouse pulls it off you can say "Taira has so much egg on her face you can smack her with a hot skillet can call her an omelet".

Ok I have a bit of a problem with some of my games recently. I mostly play Grand Theft Auto V and Final Fantasy XIV. I am having moments where my frame rate (normally around 60) seems to get cut in half for several seconds and then returns to normal. This happens nearly all the time in GTA where as FF it happens less frequently. I fiddled with some settings, but nothing really works. Here's my rig:

CPU: AMD FX 8350 (not overclocked) GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 6 GB (not overclocked) PSU: Rosewill RP 600 V 2-S-SL 600W ATX 12 V v2.0 RAM: 16 GB Screen: 1920 x 1080

At first, I thought maybe it was my PSU since the wattage on the rails are kinda low by today's standards (+3.3@30A, +5V@55A, +12V1@19A, +12V2@19A, -12V@1A, +5VSB@2.5A), but my friends say that a better PSU wouldn't fix the problem I have. I did a virus scan and it's clean. My rig is barely dusty and doesn't need a cleaning now.

Try enabling V-Sync, thats known as screen tearing and happens when the monitor trys to display several frames in one draw.

Bluntly your computer is probably too good for the monitor.

I have V sync already enabled. Tearing isn't my issue, it's the random sudden FPS drops.

Any particular areas or times (tunnels, lots of FX going off at the same time) where you are experiencing the FPS drops?

Nothing really different from the norm. In GTA 5, it happens no matter where I am or what's going on (only things that go on are usual traffic and light police chases). In FF 14, it's also random whether I'm in an area with a lot of players or just a few. There's rarely a lot of action going on in that game based on the content I play.

Periodic framerate slowdowns can be caused by overheating. Clean the fans in your computer, especially on the video card.

Any ideas on why my phone would say my wifi used 14% of my battery since my last full charge when my wifi has been off since before I unplugged it? All I've used my phone for in the meantime is videos on VLC player (reports 2% battery used, and 7% for the screen) and previously-downloaded Spotify music (reports 3%).
