What is this? Why is this a trope page? It's not a trope at all, it's a fanspeak term at best, and only a very specific section of fanfic fans. The list of "examples" are mostly not even correct, and we have that ridiculous "real life" anecdote about 4chan.

This isn't a trope, and it's barely even fanspeak. It's fan-opinion. Someone give me one good reason why we need this page on the wiki.

Also, the description talks about fanfic readers who don't like het pairings, but the examples are about characters who hate real (to them) het relationships. Some sort of disconnect here.

Basically,

description: fanboys or fangirls that don't like het pairings in their story

examples: characters that discriminate against real het relationships. Real in-universe, anyway.

I'd argue most of the shipping pages are not tropes as the website defines and do not need to be a part of the wiki, but trying to get rid of any of them is always met with stiff resistance, be warned.

Yup, agreed 100%. I'd love to burn all the 'shipping "tropes." Let's focus on this awful nonsense for now, though.

Well, we could just repurpose it into a general trope about heterophobic characters in fiction... not that there's a whole lot of those characters in the first place, but eh.

2600 inbounds. You're going to have to come up with a better plan than a simple cut.

I vote for Cut as well. This is not a trope, this is not funny, and this is not useful or interesting.

[up]You still need a better reason. And it's not as simple as SA link == bad.

@Arha - I really don't have to. Sometimes if something needs to be cut, it needs to be cut. We can redirect it to the home page if the inbounds really matter so much. I mean, god forbid we lose some inbounds from what're likely a bunch of awful fanfic sites and Something Awful. I guess we could redirect it to Shipping Tropes or something.

@Septimus - What better reason is there than "not a trope?"

[up][up]Wasn't saying that, just implying that inbounds don't mean that the article in question is good.

My reason is that:

1. It is not a trope.

2. It is not funny.

3. It is not an interesting trivia page.

Martello: I'm not saying I want to keep it (I don't) I'm saying a cut will be declined. If you want to get rid of the page it needs to be either reworked into something that is a trope, turned into fanspeak or redirected somewhere.

@Martello: Because you didn't read Not A Trope. Fan Speak pages are expressed OK, assuming that they have some notability (as the inbounds prove)

I don't care about any of that. This is a subjective, ridiculous fan opinion. We don't need it here.

We could always redirect this somewhere instead of cutting outright. Google suggests that it's really not an established term.

Again, we could just repurpose it into a general trope about heterophobic characters in fiction. Of course, I wouldn't miss it if it was cut; the concept's a bit silly, anyway.

Considering the wicks and inbounds, I'd think it somewhat notable as an audience reaction, though I don't know why it has any examples.

With all the audience reaction and shipping pages, I don't see a reason to cut this one just because it's dumb.

But that's just me.

It seems to me that audience reaction "tropes" would be magnets for natter, not to mention highly subjective and off-mission. In other words, everyone that was against deeper analysis for trope pages should be all for cutting pages like this.

@#14: That just makes it a ymmv page at worst. Not seeing the point, or not liking the point, is not a cut reason.

Cut is a last resort (barring content that this page doesn't cover), and therefore other options need to be ruled out first.

At the very least, the page should list no example because we have no examples of it. None of the currently entries are examples.

I agree with the cut. I generally prefer to salvage tropes or articles, but this one is just ridiculous.

Making it in universe only is probably the best idea. I'm not sure how healthy of a trope it would be after that, though.

Seems like there's actually two tropes here - one as an Audience Reaction by fans of Slash Fic who dislike hetero pairings, and then an in-universe trope for heterophobic characters.

The name could certainly be changed, but it's definitely not something to be cut. On the other hand, if one or both parts of the trope individually can't be salvaged, then we can talk cutting.
