It's supposed to be an Onix getting it's gravely backside handed to it by a Charmander, but I only know that because I read the comic...and recongize the Pokemon. I say Keep Until Better Suggested.
"I know where I am, I just don't know where I am in where I am." - MeOkay, so is this actually an example? Is an Onix massive and terrifying? Does it have some weaksauce handicap that prevents it from being a threat ever? Do you encounter them in hordes later in the game?
Because frankly, this looks like an example of level grinding (boosting the charmander), which is a completely different trope.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Yes, Onix is a rock type and counters Charmander's fire type element. How ever in the updated re-release of the game, Charmander gains a move that counters Onix's rock type element and also it to beat Onix. So from a mechanics stand point it makes sense, but after all this I realizes that's a lot of knowledge to need just to understand it
The picture is probably used because the first Onix in the game in encountered during a gym battle, basically the boss fights of the game.
Okay, you swayed me Sparks, this needs to go.

"I know where I am, I just don't know where I am in where I am." - MeYeah, that's just not gonna cut it.
More specifically, Onix is a Rock/Ground Pokemon, both of which are super-effective against Fire (and on top of that, Rock resists Fire attacks). According to the games' Pokedexes Onix is one of the largest Pokemon in the entire series (at 20+ feet) and should absolutely tower over a Charmander by comparison. But in actual gameplay, Onix's sole strength is a high physical defense - weak attack power, relatively poor defense against special-based hits (especially water/grass which both inflict quadruple damage), which means that they aren't really the threat that their massive size/weight logically should make them.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.They do have a deceptively high speed; at base 70, he's actually one of the faster unevolved pokemon.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.That's still a lot of supplemental information needed to understand why the image works.
"I know where I am, I just don't know where I am in where I am." - MeClock is set.
Motion to pull.
Per the above, you need a lot of in-universe information to understand why it's an example, and even then it's somewhat iffy. Does not illustrate well enough.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Supporting pull: The image is not illustrative on its own.
+1 to per per the above reasons.
It'd probably do better if it had the preceding panel from the comic it's from.◊ If there was a way to keep it.

Er, what exactly is going on in that creature? A black worm is fighting another black worm, and the small guy is winning? I don't see how that demonstrates this trope.
