The very last scene will have the twins returning the next summer. Pacifica runs up and grabs them to deal with some more ghost problems.

Would supernatural things keep happening after the finale? We're bound to figure out where everything came from sometime during the finale. And if they found the source, and had the ability to destroy the source, choosing to keep things like zombies and ghosts around to terrorize people would be really, really irresponsible.

It's always possible that they find the source, but the source can't actually be "shut down." Though that's pretty doubtful.

I'm currently reading up on Cthulhu mythos (where Gideon's star is from) so I can catch any references in the finale 
You know, people theorize that star is another demon of Bill's kind.

It looks identical to the Elder Sign from the Cthulhu mythos. The Elder Sign is used as a protection against evil forces. Since Gideon had a journal and new about the supernatural, I always thought he wore it as some sort of protection.
