Trying to find books I remember

This is bugging me. All I remember is the rough plot of the story. I think it was a short story rather than a novel and it may have been made into a film. anyway. The USA has made all people equal by trying to bring everyone down to the lowest level. Fit, athletic people wear heavy weights all the time, beautiful people wear masks, smart people wear head phones that make noise to confuse them. the main character is a bit too smart and is sent to see someone official who then secretly sends him to a club where clever people play smart games and some times take off the headset/weights. This is a way the government recruits clever people to actually run the country. the man joins up but for some reason decides to rebel and ends up on the television trying to show the everyday people how good it would be if they didn't all wear masks and head sets that made them stupid. Then the head of the organisation turns up and kills him. and everyone forgets because of the head sets.

any ideas what story that is?

Hello. I'm looking for an English book about dragons. The cover, as I remember it, was mostly green with a little bit of rainbow colors. The cover was a pop-up open-up kind of thing (meaning there was a picture that you open up like a door). The open-up picture was a dragon. I feel like it was dragon training, dragon grooming, dragon stable, or something like that. Is that enough to go by?
