I read the argument against it which pretty much boils down to a short teenager has Gag Boobs which are played for comedy, and that it is a comedy thus has no plot, despite having a several storylines.

That's something I complained about before. "Has no plot" is being inappropriately applied to types of works where one would not expect much plot anyway. It really shouldn't mean it literally has no plot, but that it has no non-porn content, which a comedy with sex in it should pass. This is at least the third different work that I've seen "has no plot" be misused on.

So in other words the p5 go by the SVU rule, there is nothing wrong but it makes me fell icky so There Should Be a Law. Also Eiken is not brainless fan service it is a comedy which uses fan service for jokes. I have actually seen things that were just brainless fan service and porn without plot and trust me this manga is not one of theme. The reason I brought it up was because I have scene several people bash it without giving a concrete reason. Also I have scene several shows that are more explicit with people who act like children like Glee and Friends.

Pedo-pandering and porn don't have the same standards. If the main character of Eiken was 20, and acted like a 20 year old, in addition to having the body of, well, Sasha Grey, let's be honest, it would still be here. The fact that the main character is 12, acts like a little girl, and has a body that makes it okay to ogle her is why Eiken has no page here. Not because we have a comedy bias. (If we did, I imagine Superbad would be one of the first to go.)

If I'm not mistaken, the appeal for Eiken has been denied. Can we stop talking about it? It ain't coming back and discussing it gets us nowhere.

There's nothing wrong with "this is just plain icky" being a reason to devil something, if the ickyness outweighs non-porn and non-fanservice content.

I disagree. Let's keep it to is it wall to wall porn and/or does this have too much child nudity/sex and leave 'ick' out of it.

[down] I'm just trying to unslip the slope. B/c if we just say 'well, it's icky' we get a lot of people flagging stuff like some comic in which furries do the do once or boys love, and that wastes P5's time when they should be preventing porn and pedos.

Some works, like Eiken, are just way too creepy to have an article for.

Which is fine if a work doesn't make it in.

But yeah, an actual reason is far better to have. Especially one we can see. Tends to get less "why did you ban that?!" responses.

Squick shouldn't be a reason for anything to be cut. Eiken was cut because of its problematic content, which also happened to be creepy as hell. The two things can coexist, but flagging something that grosses you out personally is not okay. I mean, if that was true, I should go flag Ren and Stimpy.

Yea, I can understand a reason like "They showed the labia of a 10 year old!*' but 'It's icky' could be ANYTHING.

  • Not Eiken, something else.

I know people who think that even the concept of a man loving another man is disgusting. As a denizen of the internet, I know that "they're furries!" is commonly viewed as a valid reason to be disgusted.

"It's icky." is a very poor argument for cutting things. <__<

I was just trying to understand why it was banned because even reading the discussion and p5 reason for it the situation was unclear and I think the reason in the sandbox should be changed to reflect it. The thing that disturbed me the most is that people think so low of comedy that work featuring teens aimed at teens are considered bannable which are worse then them are not

And what about its content was problematic besides that it made some people fell ichy there was no sex, no large amount of violence besides for the artist drawings there is nothing objectionable in it (also she is 13 not 12 which in japan is like the difference between 15 and 16 here in Georgia)

[up][up]Thanks, Kuro.

Having trouble finding this one (both anime and manga). May have to hold off on it.

[up][up] That last point doesn't matter. It's judged on American standards, not Japanese.

^ It's also not true. The age of consent in Japan nationally is 14 while in any prefecture it's actually higher than that.

Look, people already flag stuff because they think 'I don't like it it's icky' and they were doing it before we did anything to Eiken. For the most part the P5 has been handling that stuff responsibly or have been willing to rereview articles that got a bad verdict like Ai No Kusabi. Why don't we just let them do their jobs for now?

No, standards is another story than age of consent.

Their standards are far less for works. As in their fictional stuff.

We have higher standards for our fictional stuff, obviously.

The "it's fanservice for teens" is a better point though. A twelve year old is only slightly younger than Eiken's target audience, and it's not really pedophilia for a teenager to be attracted to something like that.

14 is the age when they are allowed to get married not consent to sex also I was just pointing out the cultural dissonance not trying to defend it. Another thing that bothers me about this is the misuse of the term pedophilia if you were to say it has Ephebophilia that would be different (still wrong but closer to the truth). I just want the information on why something was banned to be accurate.

Also Ai No Kusabi is still locked

Going back to Lady Chatterleys Lover, it isn't porn by any 21st century standard, but having now read about the numerous obscenity trials surrounding its publication, I wonder if the flagger was making a historical allusion in putting it up for the P5 process.
