Wrong thread. Franchise already is a namespace! :)
There's a thread for discussing potential Franchise/ candidates here.
eta: back to Septimus's question: I could live with Ride/. It's definitely short and sweet.

Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.OK. But I was also saying I don't support a Toy/ namespace.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.A namespace for both Theme Parks (like Disney Theme Parks) and specific rides would be welcome, I think. Preferably the same, to avoid too much namespace inflation.
PS: This thread got a longer shelf life than I expected when starting it. Maybe it should be pinned?

Well, I would not mind an official Ride/ or Theme Park/ namespace.
Get rid of the walled gardenThis thread really isn't getting the attention it deserves...
But anyway, I noted that Tour De France is tagged as a work page.
This would hint the need for a Sport/ namespace for sport events.
I'd like to rpopose the namespace "Pinball/" for (dur) pinball games.
Why?
- They are works
- They are tropeable
- They don't fit under any of the existing namespaces
- They dpn't get enough love on this Wiki

Can we have just Game/ for them and for anything else which is neither tabletop nor a videogame?
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I like the sound of that, but one question: Would that apply to webgames?
I'm not LGBT. I just think Rain's really cool. Apologies if my humor gets too painful. The only difference between a web game and a console video game is the distribution method. That's not enough for a new namespace.
Okay there. That's all I was wondering.
I'm not LGBT. I just think Rain's really cool. Apologies if my humor gets too painful."Game" seems too generic, especially considering all the other detailed game-related namespaces we already have.
—R.J.
We don't really have lots of game namespaces — Video Game/, Tabletop Game/, and possibly Toys/ and Visual Novel/ look to be the only ones. Visual Novel/ gets its own because anime/manga related stuff is like that. Tabletop Game/ and Video Game/ are both very distinct from each other and very broad in what they cover. Toys/ encompasses non-game items.
I reckon a Game/ one would fit in just fine, and using Pinball/ might be more comparable to, say, Card Game/ or Platform Game/, which we don't do.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Pinball could also count for Toys. It's rather similar in that regard. It also could be considered a Video Game too. Perhaps it should depend if we're talking about one in an Arcade(would be Toys) or one like Metroid Pinball(being a Video Game).
Pinball is an arcade game, which is conceptually lumped in with video games even if some of them are not actually "video" based. Either that or we need an Arcade Games namespace, but how we'll distinguish that from Video Games is beyond me.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I do think they're somewhat different, but eh, fair enough.
Yeah, the only arcade games are ones that have zero video game remakes/ports/whatever. They're slightly notable, at least in the sense of major differences between the versions.(and this does happen often enough) But probably not enough for a needed namespace.
I like Game/. It's simple, inclusive, and provides a place for things we can't think of at the moment that won't fit into any particular other gamespace.
Check out my fanfiction! It's also way too broad. Namespaces that are supersets of other namespaces are never a good idea.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!""Animation/" says hi.
I'm not LGBT. I just think Rain's really cool. Apologies if my humor gets too painful.I think Pinball is a sufficiently distinctive medium/form that it can fit in its own namespace easily. It cuts across both physical tables and video-game-only versions, so you can't lump them into either Video Game/ or Toys/, at least not without a lot of mental contortion.
"Arcade/" wouldn't work either, since lots of pinballs have never seen a physical manifestation (Pokemon Pinball, Crystal Caliburn), much less the inside of an arcade... which are pretty much archaic history nowadays.
Besides, aside from pinball games, what else would go in an "Arcade/" namespace anyway? Skee-ball and Whack-A-Mole? Is anyone going to create pages for those?

I will note that we do have "Ride/".
I'm not LGBT. I just think Rain's really cool. Apologies if my humor gets too painful.I just find it odd that you can go to the Pinball page and find a massive list of notable tables, but just about none of them have a works page... and I believe that is because nobody can figure out where to put them.

The only issue I see with Game/ is that it's likely to be misused for one of the subnamespaces.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'm not a huge fan of Pinball/, but the other options do look relatively worse. Guess I'll give my tentative support for it unless someone comes up with a better idea.

Bionicle actually does have at least three CGI films, in addition to the considerable amount of internet-based content.
