I find it hard to tell what's going on in the image, but it doesn't look like a bathhouse to me. I think it's a locker room, or something. Either way, this doesn't seem to illustrate the trope.

I can see the mirrors and something that looks like a water tap, but it's very hard to find out here.

This is what you're looking at. The locker room is probably off-screen, behind the camera, and those 2 floating heads are sitting in the bath.

No argument that we could find a much clearer picture though.

I know they're not necessarily usable for our page image, but searching for "public bath" yields some truly stunning pictures, and I don't mean that in the "hee hee nude people" way:

"Ancient Ruins Used as Public Baths"
"Massage in a Bathhouse"
"Sutro Baths"
Hotsprings (?)

The following have people sans clothes. It's as is normal with public baths, but sans clothes still:

"Public Bath at Simoda"
"Moorish Bath"
Sentou

Those arnt this trope though, a public bath house that this trope covers is the modern indoors with Furo's lined up on the side baths in the back with a painting of Mt Fuji in the background. that is the way they 'look like in media, (outside of the Waterpark / Health Spa variety which are rare as hell.) bathing under mt Fuji is considered good luck. (this trope was split off from Furo Scene.) they have their own stereotypical events and such with the visit to one.

The pic is fine but if anyone has a better quality of it that would be good. (Hidamari Sketch S1)

Yeah, I noted that those images, particularly the grand first one Spark and I are talking about, are not very orthodox in media. I just felt compelled to share them.

That said, it's not true that the trope is Japanese-only. So in theory it's perfectly possible to use a picture of a Turkish bath, for example.

Unless they used the same tropes, routine etc.... No they are quite different, huge cultural and media differences and other things.

Also very distinctive from Hotsprings Episode.

But the description doesn't say this is Japanese specific. If you think the trope should be split by culture, that's for TRS.

Still, a Japanese example would be nice, just because they're the most common.

This trope is explicitly not culture-specific; it was made because Furo Scene is culture-specific.

I'd say that has the weak sides of both worlds... But it's at least going to the IL; good catch.

Ok why was the old image removed? It is a very good image of the inside of a bathhouse in media with all the stereotypical elements and layout.

Nvm it was the boss man... bah.

Here's the one from post 12 in a form that doesn't give a "No hotlinking" page.

Is there an easy way to circumvent those?

I've got it. Like it overall. Suggest "You were expecting hot chicks weren't you?" as a caption.

The clock's up and we need to move on this. I'm not where I can upload that last suggestion, so if someone can do that, add Deboss' caption, and post, I'll take care of the rest.
