I don't know, personally it leaves me indifferent. They have done much uglier before, haven't they?

And you criticize OV Gwen...Okay, your opinion but to me it kinda makes him look old and kinda like teenager pathetically trying to grow a mustache, and Grey Matter is one of few aliens I would argue suppose to be cute. Plus it has Powerpuff Reboot effect of looking at design that looks like old stuff you liked, but at the same time feeling oddly off.

But speaking of design decisions, I question Upgrade's fingers and I think Heatblast looks like he has a car ears.

Ah, I see. Yeah, in that case I see your point. Personally it doesn't bothers me because I see it more like wrinkles, but if it really is stubble, then yeah it's ugly.

As for OV Gwen's design, I honestly had no problem with her frekles. My real issue was with her glasses and clothes. I was fine with how she was in the OV pilote and in the 11 years old Ben flashbacks, and she still had freckles here.

Plus it has Powerpuff Reboot effect of looking at design that looks like old stuff you liked, but at the same time feeling oddly off.

Funny, that's exactly the feeling I get from the designs for Upgrade and Heatblast. Speaking of which, did they make Upgrade purple, or is that just a different pic?

He's purple.

I also noticed picture where Four Arms is apparently a wrestler. Normally I wouldn't say it's that interesting, but it seeing how it did happen in old show, we might be dealing with some script recycling.

Okaaaaay, really weird choice to make him purple here. What did they try to accomplish by this, diversifying the aliens' colours?

Yeah, probably a sequel or recycling of Ready to Rumble. We'll see I guess.

There really was no purpose or reason to change his color to purple. Ben's color scheme has always been green and black. This is literally a change that makes no sense.

Xlr 8 lost white part for blue. Four Arms has white, but Grey Matter wears green. Diamondhead has yellow part. Stinkfly is naked now. Yeah, this is exactly what their going for. Besides Arms, only Cannonbolt is white-black, but it's not thanks to clothing.

[up][up]Without going that far at complaining, I admit I am kinda weirded out. I was used to the aliens having a common color scheme to unify them. I might have a hard time getting used to that...

[up]I see. Let's hope they don't make it power rangers or something^^

Ruined Forever.

And ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever...

So I guess this was right:

News time people. They're burning off episodes. Starting with next Monday there will be new Ben 10 everyday except for weekends, get this - at 06:00 AM. They should finish airing seasons 6 and 7 by 31th October. No idea what about season 8 that allegedly exists. (Apparently one of episodes is final to "Charmcaster trilogy" so its slightly important)

Facts: -CN hates action shows right now. -Ben 10 shows live about 2 years. Sneak episode aside, Omniverse started September 22 2012 - Omniverse is the only Ben 10 series that didnt get a movie or special.

Sadly since its more that a year before we get to December 27 2015, there is a chance Ben 10 will not reach it 10th anniversary and become a long runner.

Granted it's not dead, but they want to reboot it. I haven't really paid attention since Alien Force, but with the introduction of Alien X, Paradox, Ultimate Ben 10000 and the multiverse I really think it would have been easier just to do a soft reboot. Have Ben and Paradox go back and alter the timeline, or have Alien X reboot the universe and just restart the show from there, X Men Daysof Future Past style.

[up]Yeah, so far it seems like they just want to return to the roots and stick to the Original Show. Shame honestly, because for all the Broken Base on the sequels, they all had stuff that was worth keeping. I hate Omniverse, but even I will admit some of its elements and characters were memorable.

Eeehhh, I dunno. i think hard reboot is a better idea. Cartoons are not comic books. One of OV problems was that it was goofy show and yet it was ridiculously continuity heavy. I mean when reboot would happen anyway? At the end of one of shows? At the beginning of a new show?

I can't mind idea of reboot that much, because if one thinks a bout it, it was just inevitable. Ninja Turtles and Transformers keep booting, right? Really, I just like to think that new show is a parallel world to previous one.

What I do mind is apparent abandoning of AF-UA-OV elements.

[up]Yeah, I agree. This isn't comic book here, no need to have someone reshape the universe to explain a reboot; We all saw how that turned out with the Alien X/Anihilarg thing.

Ben 10 was about as close to a comic book adaption as possible without being an actual comic book, I disagree. They even had a comic book style transition in the Gwen 10 episode.

[up] I've heard about it but never watched the actual episode. Still, it would be so easy. I mean they already had Kid Ben and Teen Ben meeting up.

Days of Future Past retconned the X-Men films and I personally loved that. I don't like it when they just reboot it for the sake of rebooting it, at least come up with some form of explanation. That way you don't feel completely alienated. It's not just "we're rebooting it because our old fans need to move on with their lives" it's "we're rebooting it in a way that acknowledges the old timeline/universe, but let's us branch out and explore new ideas."

Terminator Genisys, Tron Legacy, Star Wars The Force Awakens maybe theyr'e not A-list films or soft reboots by the strictest definition, but they continued the franchise while also taking it in a new direction, following newer characters without straight up abandoning the old ones.

Granted, a lot of superhero cartoons often reboot with no explanation, but that's because those shows are usually made decades/half a decade apart.

All that said, I'm not against this new cartoon - least not until they release some concept art or a clip I don't find very funny so I go on tumblr and complain about it - but I think Paradox/X could've been a handy explanation.

I get your point, and I agree Ben 10 is one of the most comic booky non-comic superhero cartoons I know. But you are missing an important point: the reason we let comics get away with the ridiculous Cosmic Retcon excuse is because it's necessary in the support: comic books have existed for around 70 years and never went through reboots in the normal sense, so things have gotten so complicated this really is the only way to handle it; Ben 10 might have gone for long and got complicated as far as cartoons go, but it's still nowhere near the level of comics. Also, in a comic they either put notes to explain it to new readers in issues or rely on fans checking the internet. You can't expect the kids cartoons like Ben 10 are intended for to do the same.

Honestly Days of Future Past was more the exception that confirms the rule. The only reason they went through that reboot was because a lot of the damages made in the previous movies (Cyclop's and Xavier's death most notably) were just too big to accept, yet couldn't be fixed any other way. Ben 10 hasn't quite reached that situation.

Few more pictures and videos came out recently. It appears that we won't have to worry about lack of action in the show after all. There is even an instance of Ben cutting alien's tongue.

Trailers beside few new villains also confirmed presence of Hex (Gwen's spellbook is also visible at one point), Dr Animo (Okay, he's not actually seen, bu come on, look at these animal freaks) and...Billy Billions! We're getting sequel elements after all. Perhaps Water Hazard being turned into Overflow is more of an exception then a rule.

On negative side, I have no proof whatsoever that humor is any good and everybody seems to be recast will worse voices, except for Ben (Tara Strong) Four Arms (John Dimaggio) and I presume Upgrade (havent heard him speak yet).

... Wow. Billy Billion actually looks less cartoonish than he did in Omniverse. I will admit I am kinda happy to see him though. He is one of these elements in OV I kinda liked. And of course, I am kinda glad to see more original series villains as well. Also nice to see the action isn't out the windows.

The downside is, they seem to have kept two big points I disliked in Omniverse, namely Ben getting his asses kicked comedically on regular basis and lame comedy villains. But we'll see I guess.

He doesn't seems to be doing that bad for a just starting 10 year old in mostly comedy show and anyway so far I',m just relieved that we will have well done action. Now, I hope comedy will be anything good because so far I only like Animo's literal A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing.

And villains...yeah, ok. No new baddie looks good at all. They look like Johnny Test villains.
