If this isn't actually a thing I might cry from you getting my hopes up.
i. hear. a. sound.I meant to add a "2" there. Can some mod add it? Obviously, Eternal Darkness is already out.
Jonah Falcon...I'm so happy, I could commit a sacrifice to the three horrors.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryAll of my sacrifices go to Xel'lotath. <3
i. hear. a. sound. The goddess? Whatever one was the one with the female voice that was my preferred one in Eternal Darkness.
But if this is true, then I say HELL YEAH!
Yeah, the lady-horror made of crazy.
i. hear. a. sound.Probably the best gamecube game not named Metroid Prime. However, haven't all the games the studio's put out since then been huge failures? Makes me worried.
I want it to come out, then I will worry about financial success. It'd be nice, I want people to stay employed, especially if they make stuff I like, but you know they have to make stuff.
I was contemplating playing Eternal Darkness again, but I decided I was going to finally beat Zelda 2 or Excite Bots. Now that there is news of a sequel I think I will go play the original after all.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackWhat I'm most curious about is the plot of a potential sequel. The true ending to the first game has all of the ancients save for Mantorok (and the supposed fifth ancient) dead, and Silicon Knights have even said that the original was meant to be a standalone game. Either this new game will be an independent story set in the same world, or it could continue from the first somehow with Mantorok and the fifth ancient taking center stage. Regardless, I can't wait if they are indeed making a sequel. The magic system in the first game was amazing, and if they expand on that then I'm sold.
Agreed, and if this sequel is made I can't wait to see what devious, insidious, and downright dastardly insanity effects they come up with.
The memory card reformating one damn near made me throw my controller through the window.
How about being randomly sent to your console's start menu ? Only with disturbing imagery replacing every icons ? Or Achievements / trophies messages randomly popping out but never going away, clogging your vision ?
If this becomes real, they should take into account the new gimmicks used in this generation of consoles.
What if they found a way to do a false red-ring or whatever the PS 3 equivalent is? Oh my god that would be mean.
The PS 3 equivalent to the red ring is a yellow light that is not nearly as visible.
One effect that would be horrible would be a console bricking message accusing you of piracy.

Not Three Laws compliant.Man, it's wierd, the first game scared the fuck outta me playing and the game was hard to beat as an actual game, especially the final boss (damn you Pious, you and your 9-rune Magick!), yet I loved it, want it repped in Smash Bros., and know I'm partying in my head at the thought of a sequel, and I usually HATE scary stuff. I think it was mostly from the awesomely infuriating Sanity effects and the combat being suprisingly action-y for a scary game.
Anyway, I will hurt someone if it turns out this game doesn't turn out to be ED 2. Ooh, hopfully on the Wii U for maximum Sanity trolling potential!
^ Maybe fake Home Menu to simulate it taking you back to the Wii/U Menu.

The New Age of Awesome is here! Not even the sky is the limit!"You've been playing for a while, why don't you take a break?"
(Wii Mote shuts off)"The game cube controller has been moved to slot one. Is that okay?"(character is then torn apart by zombies while you rush to change batteries/grab the other controller)
All the zombies are replaced by Redeads, instead of using sanity lowering Death Glares they paralyze you with a scream and then hump you to death. Instead of the usual Book scene the screen cuts to "Game Over, The Return Of Ganon(hahaha)"
For the plot, they already said they wanted to tell another story in the "universe", so it probably will be self contained. I wouldn't mind a few Cameos or Cross Throughs from the previous game, considering it occurred on three different continents over 2000 years.
Another chance to play as Edward, Lindsey, Alex or Michael, they all have plenty of room for off screen adventuring. A chance to play as that knight or soldier before they died off screen in the previous game? Maybe as that guy who wrote the letters to Max or that cop from the start?
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackFake quick time events. "GODAMNIT I"M PRESSING TRIANGLE/A/SHAKING TO THE LEFT WHY ISN'T IT—- ooooooh. ...Fuck you, game."

i. hear. a. sound.New player characters
A Mayan scribe trying to keep records preserved > A Guatemalan journalist looking into something(earthquake, rigged election, cult, illegal Mexican fishing, ect) and finding more than she bargained for > a researcher out to disprove the 2012 thing.
Amerindian farmer in the ancient Mississippi valley seeking out his lost son > Steamboat captain who has been beached in a freak accident > Park Ranger who thinks some delinquents/poachers are up to no good...
Portuguese Knight fighting the Muslims in Ethiopia > A Cuban soldier helping to oust the occupying Somalis > A member of a distance team/football player trying to qualify for the Olympics/National Team
A Punjab fisherman trying to get away from the violence of the Mongol Invasion > A Pakistani scientist working on a nuclear weapon/power plant > A doctor treating soldiers injured in the Pakistani/Afghan disputes.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackAnyone else surprised ED is still Nintendo-only after all this time?
The New Age of Awesome is here! Not even the sky is the limit! The great thing about this game is that nearly anyone of any nationality or background from history can be used. All they have to be is in the wrong place.
They published it. Plus, Nintendo owns the patent to the Sanity effects. It wouldn't be ED without them.

Don't Stop Me Now...Actually, the most realistic Mind Screw to do would be the dreaded "Dirty Disc" error.
Jonah FalconI'd love to play as Alex in Smash Bros. She's on the shortlist of my "Obscure Nintendo Characters Who Should Be In Smash Bros.," alongside Muddy Mole, Starfy (as more than an assist trophy), and King Dynal.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaYeah, I always felt that SSBB should have had some Eternal Darkness swag. After all, it is considered a first party property because it was directly published by Nintendo. At first I thought they excluded elements of ED because it was M rated, but with the inclusion of Solid Snake and MGS stages and trophies, that theory loses some credence. Anyway, I seriously hope they are able to secure the same caliber of voice talent they got for the first game. The acting in ED was superb, especially whoever did Maximillian Roivas.
Fnally! I guess two failed franchises is what was needed to get the message through Silicon Knights thick skulls.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.
Maximillian was voiced by Porkins from Star Wars, but unfortunately passed away a long time ago.
and it's no wonder the voice-acting was great, since it was handled basically by the same people that do the Metal Gear games with a A-class cast.Even David Hayter makes a cameo in the game.
All but confirmed
Jonah Falcon
