I can't even do them consistently. To take a page from Mukora's book, yes I suck at the game.

...............

That's made me realise how long it's been since I last played the game. :O

Started a new game of ME 1.

You know, I'm honestly surprised at how well it's aged. It's not great, but it's a lot better than I remember it being. Even the Mako is entertaining just for how bad the physics troll the thing.

Also played Pinnacle Station for the first time. Some of the cutscenes looked like they were made by a Machinima team, but otherwise it was decent. Maybe not worth three bucks, but eh.

The little randomized shipment thing has given me a lot of stuff I've never seen, like Rage armour, which is pretty snazzy looking.

I hate it when gaming companies do that. Take something that works well and say 'oh, it works? Let's nerf/completely drop it!'.

I mean, how can you say 'oh, that's bad' just because players are using it to its full effectiveness?

If it's incredibly broken, that's one thing, but if it's just a good ability/power/mechanic/gun, leave it the hell alone.

It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve.

From what I read, people were using it as a farming technique.

If I were in charge, I would definitely remove it.

...Why would you remove it because it's a farming technique? You may as well remove the vangard class or take away nova.

All it does is prevent you from grabbing Pyros. It's not the end of the world, and in fact, most W/G/G teams I've been on rarely ever grab enemies, let alone Pyros.

Part of that, recently, is probably because of the N7 classes, especially the Slayer/Shadow and the Demolisher.

It also adds consistency, Pyro's were the only armoured enemy that could be grabbed. Now anything with a yellow health bar can't be pulled over the counter. Too heavy, I guess.

this is actually a really good nerf. It doesn't completely destroy the use of grabbing, but because one very dangerous close range enemy is immune to it, players can no longer go into full autopilot when farming W/G/G.

I mean, look at it this way: let's say there was a map that had a long corridor with a shielded turret at the end. Players obviously will hole up there and use that point "to its full effectiveness," but that's not terribly interesting—it's just a way to waste time and make numbers go up without thinking very hard, like playing Farmville or something.

The credit bonus for extraction is kinda nice, though.

What happens in W/G/G is that everyone holes up in the normal room until 30s are left then make a mad dash to the extraction point.

You can hole up in a couple maps like that. Nothing wrong with it. It is a perfectly viable strategy. Personally I don't like that room. 3 different paths of approach to defend. If you take the smaller room up the stairs only two paths in and plenty of cover.

It is a viable strategy, and I am okay with that. I'm also okay with being OP, but I can see that this makes for a more boring game as time goes to infinity and everyone converges on being perfectly efficient.

i like how you missed the point. My point was that W/G/G pre-nerf did not include thinking. I'm happy to not think about anything more than positioning when gaming, so I'm not judging you for it, but I do think you should help give me more energy so I can make my Cityville better.

Mukora: By bunkering down into one of the two interior rooms and blasting away.

I would say the effeciency play style is a direct result of the "magic card pack" style of MP items. The very nature of the system encourages mindless grinding.

Yeah, that was a bad idea overall.

I mean, if they wanted that so they could encourage real-world money spending, they could have done something like having an actual store where you can pick items, but the content of said store gets randomized everyday.

So if one day you check the store, and oh crap, there's that sweet sniper rifle you want, but you don't have enough credits, or time to grind, you might contemplate wasting real money.

Capitalism!

Choobs: Sadly yes. They offer an incentive to help alleviate the grinding in exchange for points aka cash to get the packs instead of the play time. Monetized MP.

I have been playing Border Lands and Border Lands 2 for a reason :P

So you've stopped playing a game where you shoot things with a group of four people to grind money for random drops... to play a game where you shoot things with four people to grind money for random drops.
