Rule Named For The Violator? Badly Behaving Rule Namer?

Eesh, all these are really long.

...Oh, and crowners swapped. ^^;

Is The Violator Rule in any way ambiguous? If not, we can make it the name and use the laconicoid names as redirects.

My only problem with The Violator Rule is that the rule namer is not technically a violator, since the rule didn't exist when he or she displayed the behavior that necessitated the rule.

But that's a really minor nitpick.

Rule Named After Violator is only four words; doesn't seem that much longer than a three word name, and conciseness is our second criteria, which should be trumped by clarity, which The Violator Rule lacks. The latter could be a rule about what happens to people who violate the other rules, or all sorts of things. There's nothing in there to suggest that this is about the name of a rule. I think one (count it, one) extra word is worth the extra clarity.

eta: Named The Rule After Him is still the worst choice, though, IMO, as that could be any person who has had a rule named after them. There's nothing in there to suggest that breaking the rule was involved in naming it.

I like The Violator Rule.

Not perfect, but it works.

Rename done. Wicks and page are moved and Renamed Tropes and the FAQ thread are finished.
