I think yuuki mentioned something about why she did not pick kirito when Asuna asked about, but I don't remember what the answer was exactly.

The montage does show defeating him in a duel though I imagine the time limit makes for a different kind of battle. I believe word of god says that kirito would be stronger if he used Excalibur to fight her in terms of stats.

Something about him being too sharp and getting too close to the truth about her. Or something like that.

@Keybreak: Yup Mother's Rosario was volume 7, volume 8 was a set of sidestories taking place all over the timeline, and volume 9 onwards (currently at 17) is the Alicization mega-arc which takes place in Underworld. There's also one good stopping point at volume 14, since that's where the Underworld arc ends and volume 15 is the start of the Dark Territory arc. Extremely nasty cliffhanger though (the events of which are mentioned in the article). Problem is that that's still six volumes, which is about two two-cour seasons going by how they adapted the previous volumes. Also, volume 9 is mostly just Kirito and Asuna discussing VR plus the lead-in to the arc proper. Quite a bit of the story is also spent training and introducing the conflict and characters, with the action mostly confined to volumes 13 and 14. So I have no clue how they're going to adapt this...

@Soble: Asuna's known as the Berserk Healer in ALO because though she chose to be a healer she still needs to scratch that swordfighting itch and tends to just drop everything to charge into the fray. A few MM Os nowadays let you do just that by giving all classes a specialty that no one else can match them in, and a little bit of everything else.

Process of elimination, really. Only SAO survivors and Medicuboid testers had logged enough time to be as good as she was, and Kirito was able to rule out Yuuki being an SAO survivor on account of the fact that he received the Dual Wielding skill, rather than her.

You can adapt Vol 9 in a special One hour long chapter, you know, a lot of it is pure talk.

Johnathon never seemed sympathetic to me because his character when his beliefs and ideals basically boiled down to "Muh First World Problems..." when his privileged life is literally made of the blood, sweat and tears of the common people that his caste abuse regularly. And not to mention that in the Law ending has you and Merkabah commit suicide because you're 'tainted' by the Filth.

Most Law characters are hypocritical assholes and they usually have enough asshole moments where they want to make me shove my sword down their throat. Or Mara.

The one thing to remember about SMT is that every side is terrible.

You don`t pay much attention to the real endings, right? Law in SMT II (and IV) was -ironically- a anarcho-communist society and the angels left the Earth (the exception is SJ, and that game was "EXTREMIST IS BAD!, you get it?"), all of this based into a radical version of Utilitarianism. (And yes, i like Law, because in a franchise based of Religions, the Law side are the only ones who actually act as a religion)

Except Neutral, they are always victims, all because religion is bad, specially Western ones.

(We should leave this, i just wanted to know more about Helios Kaiser and given who he spend more time in this thread rather in the SMT Thread -why someone spend his time discussing things who he don`t like?, mysteries of life- i decided ask him in this thread.)

I have issues understanding why someone will go and complain, not actually discuss but just go to a thread and just complain. I used to do it in the SMT thread and that was fucking dumb, and i LIKE SMT.

Helios Kaiser himself admit who he just is here because Bile Fascination, in my years in internet, that never lead to something good, unless you`re an asshole and want fight for the sake of fight.

Speaking about showing what I don't like about this show:

Kirito lets people die for no reason at all:

Yes, he did. Literally FUCKING everyone knows that if their HP goes down to zero they're dead. Kirito is actively trying to hide his power level when ANYONE and EVERYONE can die at anytime. Why the hell is he trying to hide his power when people are dying? He could have EASILY prevented the Moonlight Black Cats and that red shirt army in the episode where Kirito showed off dual-wielding. Either Kirito's anti-social behavior goes beyond insanity or he's a sociopath.

Anytime Asuna is treated like shit just so Kirito can look like the ultimate badass: Asuna is supposed to be, one of the strongest characters in the game and even Kirito regards her as crazy strong. So when Kirito just HAS to defend her from Kuradeel, one of her underlings who she could EASILY beat the shit out of as the next episode shows it just visibily angers me. Kirito stealing Asuna's kill was salt on the wound. AND THEN, the Fairy Dance arc fucking happened and I wanted to punch the living fuck whoever thought that was a good idea.

If I recall correctly, he hid his level from the MBC because he was afraid that they'd only hang around him so they could leach off of him instead of because they liked him. As for the Red Shirt Army, how could he have stopped them? He, Asuna, and Klien all told them to not take on the boss but they ahead anyway.

As for Asuna running to Kazuto when Kuradeel was stalking her when she could have beaten the shit out of him herself, I have a couple of ideas as to why she might have done that but I'm pretty sure the anime doesn't confirm any of them and I don't know about the LNs so it doesn't really matter. Her not getting the kill on him was pretty frustrating, though (just one of the many reasons the abridged series is better).

You won't hear any complaints from me about Fairy Dance but at least she has a presence of some sort in that arc.

Asuna is fairy dance probably didn't have the stats to defend herself since I imagine Oberon wasn't dumb enough to give her the means to defend herself. She did manage to Almost escape on her own and gave kirito the means to get there.

With the laughing coffin member I get the feeling that was a moment of weakness where she actually assumed the guy that was a member of laughing coffin was going to willingly surrender. I don't think the front line people are used to killing other players. The laughing coffin raid made that pretty clear when they took advantage of that inexperience.

What pissed me off more about the MBC debacle was realistically that's not even a thing in MM Os these days. Higher level players are generally scaled down to a suitable level if they group up with lower level players.

So to be quite frank none of that should of even happened and Kirito never should be overpowered due to health and higher damage to begin with....

Not necessarily. I've played a fair number of MMOs where I teamed up with players who were far higher leveled than I was (or I was higher leveled than they were). However, any Daily Quests or Raid Bosses (which is every boss in this case) that they could do would scale Kirito down to whatever the max level was.

Sword Art Online was first written in early 2000s, and in general the design of the game is based in MMO design from the late 90s. A lot of the game mechanics I frequently see people complaining about in SAO were present in games I played as a kid, especially in obscured MU Ds.
