Then should there be a crowner?
Complain about good or bad or whatever, the fact that a fan of a series ends up writing for it is not a subjective occurrence. It happened or it didn't. Stop adding implications where they don't need to be. What is fan fiction but fiction written by a fan of a work? If a fan of a work writes for it, official fan fiction. This shouldn't be about creator bashing, legitimizing fan fiction or any other biased implications. It is what it is. If it is to be trivia, make it trivia but it happens, your thoughts will not make it stop happening.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackWell Promoted Fanboy is the objective trivia trope anyway.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Makes sense to me. Thinly-veiled Creator Bashing is a no-no.

Yes.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyWhat's the line between this and Promoted Fanboy anyway?
My PM System is turned off so please dont send any to me.A promoted fanboy has become part of the industry they were fans of. Running the Asylum is when that fan gets creative control of a specific work he was a fan of.
A fan of race car driving getting to drive a race car for pay, a comic book fan writing comics, The Dandy getting to model, ect. When the race car fan becomes an owner of a team or even an entire league and starts changing regulations or at least has the power to change things, he's running the asylum.
Paul Heyman=WWF fan. Paul Heyman acting as a WWF commentator=Promoted Fanboy. Paul Heyman becoming a head of creative for Smackdown=Running The Asylum.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Votes bump and snapshot:
- Clean up negativity has 10-2 votes.
- Rework it into Trivia about the fanbase overlapping with the creator team has 9-1 votes.
- De-emphasize fanfiction in the description has 7-2 votes.
- Redefine to something more like "A sufficiently established franchise will eventually see most of the writing staff be from the former fandom", or something like that has 6-2 votes.
The rest is red.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCalling crowner:
- Make the trope trivia
- Clean up negativity
- Rework description for less emphasis on fanfiction
I tweaked thew description a bit more. Anything else to do before we consign this to the morgue?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI reworded most of it. It was still talking about fanfiction way too much, and much of the wording was redundant and pedantic.
Now, we need someone to tweak the list of associated tropes. The second paragraph goes on about how this "isn't a bad thing", but 99% of the entire list of tropes is focused on complaining.
Can the part between "Note the first..." and "...fresh perspective" simply be pulled to analysis?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI don't see why not.
Made the shift. Now, unless someone has something else to add, I'll request thread closure shortly.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanLocking per request.

The name itself is inherently negative. I would still say that name applies to what is going on at Marvel and DC, but since this is TV Tropes, not Opinion Tropes*, we need a neutral name.
