Before the new episode airs I have one question about the Yokai ep. Those big long claws Saki used during the climax, do they have a name? Vega uses something very similar and in the Soul Calibur games Voldo will sometimes trade in his Katars for something that looks the same, which the game refers to as "cat claws." Thing is I've searched and can't find any weapon that answers to that name.
Tekagi Shuko
Pretty much a filler episode. Those grapple hooks came in handy during Leo's attack on that titanic monster, tho.
Not exactly. Since they recovered one of the mind control worms to reverse engineer and come up with a cure for Karai.
Not really. That was a MacGuffin they invented for this very episode. Prior to it, there was no mention of the Turtles needing anything specifically to move forward the overall plot. Ask yourself: if viewers had skipped this episode and the next opens with Donnie saying "I've finished the thing!", would anything have changed and would the audience have missed crucial information revealed? If 'no', that's how you know it was filler.
I'm not really sure how episodic shows can have filler episodes? .-. Unless they are something completely random like Pizzaface one
I kind of liked how there was a shredder in the mega shredder. Not sure what that means for the lobster, crab, and shrimp mutants vs all others but it's something.
Are we ever going to see all of Shredder's mutants in the same fight scene? Rahzar and Fish-Face are never around when Bebop and Rocksteady are.
If this show doesn't end with a humongous brawl between all of the mutants, I'll be very disappointed.
The Creep returns in the next episode. Although it's kind of obvious based on the title.
Not crazy about New Hun. I liked the old Hun. The guy that was ludicrously hugantic with more muscles than a thing that there is a lot of.
This Bruce Lee knockoff thing was interesting in his first episode, but after that it's just like...who the hell is this tool.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I agree. I liked the old Hun for being a big guy who was also fairly intelligent. The new Hun doesn't have anything to his character other than "Evil Bruce Lee". It's kind of amusing, but he's not as memorable as his previous incarnation.
Geez, New York just can't catch a break.
Tiamat from Dungeons and Dragons just made a cameo in the newest episode. With the White Dragon Head switching it's shape with the black one.
The Triceratons look kind of...uglier this time...
With Mozar and Zog, I hope we get Traximus.
Also, I've heard that Bishop will be in the series as an Utrom and is an ally. Make of that what you will. I haven't found any pictures though.
Am I the only one who's starting to think that Donnie's a lousy scientist? It took him forever to figure out the retromutagen, and it's only because of a Mikey Mishap that he can make it in large quantities. His attempts to counter Shredder's brainworm was so unsuccessful that he was ready to throw in the towel.
Maybe I'm being too hard on him. In real life it takes a long time for significant scientific breakthroughs to happen. I guess I'm used to comic books and other media where the science guy can whip up new antidotes or technology in a few days tops. Donnie's just unlucky enough to be in a show that's decided to portray scientific progress semi-realistically.
If it helps, remember that he built a giant mech, a blimp, and a submarine out of garbage, among other things.
It's still Hollywood Science.
An important part of real science, actually the MOST important part, is extensively detailing exactly what you're doing so that someone else can replicate it. Both notes and with video recordings.
If he had been doing that, and keeping his lab organized, Mikey mishaps wouldn't be an issue and they could have avoided situations like the Creeping Doom. Or he could try putting in a door to his lab and locking it.
I'd say its definitely just a more realistic scientific representation, a HUGE part of science is failure. You know how many times the people Thomas Edison payed to make something he'd take credit for failed? A LOT!
And yeah the new Tricertons look uglier, but this is Ninja Turtles where Ugly = Awesome! You ever see Ghenghis Frog's toy? SO bumpy and cool.
So if anything, Don just sucks at chemistry. He does machines, he's got that shit down pat. But he's hopeless when it comes to chemicals.
I wouldn't say he sucks, I mean he did make retromutagen. Plus should we really compare his chemistry to Mikey's? That dude is clearly a genius, and I say that unironically.
One thing I really like about this series is that Don's inventions actually look like he built them out of a garbage pile.
Yeah, the incredibly high quality of the Turtle Van and Turtle Blimp from the original series despite them not having...any funds at all was kind of strange.
The 2003 series as well! It would start with something innocuous, like the Turtles stealing an armored car from the Purple Dragons, and two episodes later it's shooting missiles and such. Or it would come out of nowhere, like the Turtle Tumbler with the laser drill on the front. Only it was kind of worse, because they would lose their stuff every few seasons, so Donnie would build new ones. They lost the Battleshell, so Donnie builds a Battle Taxi with metal tentacles. Or a garbage truck that's a hovercraft.
That's what bothered me about the crossover movie; the 1987 turtles would show off their rides and the 2003 turtles were all "no, that's a dumb idea, what's wrong with you?".
Yeah, where the shell did they get those missiles? They were WAY too fledgling a hero group to be dealing in black arms, what went on there?!
And I understand your annoyance with it, but I'm okay with it seeing as its a metaphor for one one generation feels superiority of their series addition to another. Fandom hypocrisy and what-not.
Perhaps he was offed in a deleted scene.
What I found intriguing was that he was aware of there being multiple dimensions. Could be an open door for the Ultimate Daimyo and the Battle Nexus.
