This thread deals with all issues concerning the icons used for namespaces and their buttons, including proposals for icons for new namespaces and bugs with existing icons.
When submitting an icon, the icon images should be exactly 16x16 png with a transparent background. A gif can also be used, but png is usually better. Also, the naming convention is important. It should be the namespace in lowercase.
I am compiling a list of namespaces that need icons, and icons for those name spaces. This would be preferred to be done quickly because I've convinced Eddie to hook them up when I get them complied. I will be editing the OP as we go.
NOTE: Use the link to the sandbox in the thread title to see what still needs to be decided on.
Subpages that still need icons:
- Animation/
- FanWorks/
- Manhua/
- Sandbox/
- Timeline/
Subpages that already have icons hooked up (please note, this list has been collapsed into a note, so that the floating header post isn't huge)
Links to installation-ready icons here and forward.
pages that have icons

Blue, you're correct, the referenced by namespace needs an icon too. Not so sure about your suggestion, though, but it could work.
I added ReferencedBy/ to the list.
Also, I made this for Magazine/ - it's not the most detailed one, but it might be good:

Pinball cleanup threadOh, and I found some old Franchise/ suggestions and put them all on the page, and actually made my suggestion for ReferencedBy/.
Sorry for spamming - I'm just doing a lot of stuff.

Pinball cleanup threadAnything else?
Pinball cleanup threadWhat's up with the /ComicBook icon we chose? A lightening bolt from this?◊ Can't we do any better than that?
Also, could someone please show me the quill icon for So You Want To? It makes absolutely no sense for that namespace to have its own icon, since there are no subpages.
And, here's something that I've noticed: Why is the /WesternAnimation button only an icon rather an icon with text like the rest? It's just a tiny icon of Felix The Cat, which is very small, so I never click on it. Can we please change this so that it says "Western Animation"?

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed. There are subpages in the So You ... namespace.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe quill icon is in the image gallery you linked to; it's 7th from the bottom.
Thanks.
I haven't seen any subpages, by which I mean sharing the same name, but a different namespace, so the point still stands.

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.Looking over the sandbox, do we have an idea for ARG/?
Also, Franchise/ has 8 image suggestions. That should be crownered as well, yes?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOK, crowner here.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo I'm thinking I'd like to help out with this, but having just discovered it after it has been in existence for over a year and a half makes it somewhat unwieldy to dive into! The original post says it will be updated as things go, but I could swear that there are some that are still blank that I've seen suggestions for and discussion on... It is a wee bit confusing for someone just coming into things.
At the risk of making myself sound like, well, a dummy, could someone perhaps give me a quick Sandbox.Namespace Icons Suggestions for Dummies? Exactly where do things currently stand, and what can I do to help?
Thanks!
Boy Scouts ½: the most gratuitous self insert fic, ever! Read, if you dare!Very short form, as I have to do something else soon:
All the bolded namespaces either a) need icon suggestions or b) consensus or votes on already existing images.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThanks; it's hooked and the thread title's updated to reflect.
The original post hasn't been updated in a while; ignore it and reference the sandbox.
Other than that, what Septimus said.
A thought: every entry in the Franchise/ crowner is a globe. In that case, wouldn't we basically have to go with the WWW pyramid for Website/ (the other option is another globe; in grayscale, admittedly, but we don't need the confusion)? In which case it'd probably be better to use the iconic Wikipedia globe for Wiki/ (the other option there is a large W, which would probably be easier to confuse with the WWW pyramid than the globes would be).

Moon◊I agree with this reasoning.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI do too.
I'm fine with all of those (in fact, I had explicitly favored them in my huge mega-post a while back).
Pinball cleanup threadI've added a few suggestions to the list. I'd like to discuss those, as well as my opinions on namespaces that currently have multiple suggestions in place.
Blog: I like the computer screen better. (Christ, do people still use LiveJournal?)
FanFic: As someone with a large interest in this namespace, and little interest in My Little Pony, I much prefer the folding fan. Much prefer... Very very much...
Ironically, as I type this, I just got an e-mail from Hasbro trying to sell me some Equestria Girls stuff... :p (Much more of a Transformers person, myself.)
Franchise: A choice amongst globes, eh? I have no strong preference, but for the sake of argument I'd go with #1. The detail is clear. You can make out what the land masses are. But being centered over the ocean, it shows no favoritism to one region over the other. (Unless, I suppose, you live on a Pacific island... But you can't win 'em all!)
Just For Fun: The laughing face is much more expressive of "fun" to me then the one with its tongue out.
Light Novel: I added some icon suggestions for this one. I like the first better, but if either one ends up being the final selection, I'll be happy to have contributed.
Magazine: The top one seems more clear to me.
Podcast: I like the one marked, "Standard Podcast Icon."
Radio: I like the third one. (It's not playing favorites to a particular station!)
Self Demonstrating: This is my other submission. It's an Icon Icon.
Trope Co.: A briefcase is a briefcase is a briefcase. I'll go with the fifth. No profound reasoning.
Website: I prefer the triple w's.
Web Original: This one has nothing yet, and I couldn't for the life of me think of anything, myself.
Wiki: I like the large W better, but to get some variety, and given my preference for "Website," I'll go with the puzzle globe.
Boy Scouts ½: the most gratuitous self insert fic, ever! Read, if you dare!My thoughts on the ones aside from the current crowner: Computer screen for Blog, fan for Fanfic, laughing emoticon for Just for Fun, H with figure for Light Novel, larger magazine for Magazine, the first character for Manwha, no opinion for Manhua, standard icon for Podcast, for suggestions for Referenced by... and Self-Demonstrating, either 1 or 6 for Trope Co, WWW for Website, Wikipedia globe for Wiki.
I don't like the Light Novel suggestion - it's too unclear.
Pinball cleanup threadHere are my thoughts:
- Blog/ can get the computer screen (with one problem - see below).
- Creator/ can get the pencil that was proposed for Blog/ - it illustrates "writing" far more than "blog", unless we still want to go for the brain.
- FanFic/ can get the fan - I find it funnier than the favicon.
- JustForFun/: The laughing icon, for sure.
- Podcast/: The standard icon. All the other things make me think of iPods, RSS or music rather than podcasts.
- WebOriginal: Can't think of one - maybe we'll have to use the computer screen from Blog/ here.
- Website/: The stacked WWW.
- Wiki/: The Wikipedia favicon, for sure.
A browser is not a website, though. Such an icon would be a better suggestion for WebOriginal/.

I'm making the second pinball the current choice. Here is the first one for reference.
