The image on Disintegrator Ray is not of the trope, but of a gun that destroys itself instead of doing something useful. While that's funny, I think it would be better to have an image that actually shows its victim being disintegrated.

For instance, the last three panels of this comic.

Sometimes I really wonder if we suggest too many Order Of The Stick images.

Something that came to mind was one of the Striders' attacks from Half Life 2 (seen around 1:06 of this trailer). Problem is, nobody on GIS seems to have a screenshot of the weapon in action. ._.

EDIT: While trying to find a good image of the AR 2 from the same game (Combine machine gun the player can obtain; alt-fire shoots dark energy pellets that induce the same vaporization effect) or some recent Team Fortress 2 weapons, the "Dr. Grordbort" ones (which are similarly projectile-based weapons that induce the same effect, since they share the same Game Engine). No luck there - all I can see is the effect, not the cause. But... stumbled upon this image. Dunno where it came from or if we have permission to use it, but it's pretty good.

The pic and quote are actively misleading and need to be removed. Surely there's a clean shot of someone getting phasered away from Star Trek.

...But how often did they actually set phasers to kill, again?

There's an episode of Star Trek The Next Generation where Riker falls in love with a servant girl of a foreign chancellor (who they're transporting around to do peace negotiations with a faction of their race who'd been exiled after a lengthy tribe war, and had since become scavengers). Except, said servant girl is actually the last of another tribe, is Really 700 Years Old, and is extremely vengeful toward the scavenger tribe over what they did to her race, so she's killing them off one-by-one and undermining the whole thing. Once Riker finds out about it, he teleports into the peace negotiation meeting and vaporizes the offending party.

Despite the plot twist, I'm not sure Riker vaporizing the person in question would really be all that spoiler-y. Wonder if I can find a shot of it.

EDIT: Okay, the episode name was "The Vengeance Factor" (episode 3x09), if it helps.

EDIT 2: Or, uh, there's this from The Original Series, I guess. Also found this, but again, effect, not cause.

EDIT 3: More TOS stuff, this time from "Friday's Child" - original (ow my eyes), remastered. Kind of annoyed that the remaster doesn't show the laser actually connecting, but there's a ray and the guy's being vaporized, so...

[up]Puns only work as long as they are not misleading, and the edit page gives no indication that it was chosen in a thread.

Definitely need to change it.

Aye, that it would. The skeleton's a bit gross, admittedly, but it's not really Gorn, so I'm cool with it.

A few more options:

Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen.

A pulp cover of a woman being watched into nothing.

And John Wilkes Booth de-materializing Lincoln.

I happen to like the Destroy All Humans one myself. I still find the current one funny though.

Enough Order Of The Stick already. We've got enough badly drawn pics out there already (oh, I'm sorry, I meant "art style"). Can't we find something that uses something other than stick figures for drawings? Supporting Destroy All Humans.

I've removed the page quote, because it was also about the joke-gun-that-destroys-itself, rather than an actual disintegrator ray.

Eh, the Destroy All Humans picture kind of looks like it's melting the guy instead of dusting him.

Maybe we could use the pic of when Marvin using his gun on Daffy instead?
